Tech Help Looking for new Monitor

Would like to update my 5 year old monitor, to something more up to date. My only downfall is, it has to be able to be a TV also. My current monitor does both.

27 to 34 inches with stand in the middle (my desk sucks) Willing to spend between $500 - $600

These would be of your choices:

ASUS ROG PG278Q Black 27
BenQ XL2730Z Black-Red 27

I would avoid 4K at the time being since its relative new technology and its gonna be expensive. Also, you would need a top tier graphic card to support it, I doubt 570 will be able to push those kind of frames at 60 fps the very least. Unless, you are playing source games( I'm making assumption here).

Personally, I would get the ASUS ROG since its looks slim and sexy. It's slightly over your budget but I would say its well worth it. Not to mention it has gsync.

I do like that one the most, gsync was the one thing I forgot to add!!!

But both do not come with speakers, no Hdmi hookup for the Asus. Was wanting something I could watch tv on also, since this is in my bedroom. G/F won't be happy with me if she can't watch tv upstairs....

Guess I could move my printer and put my monitor/TV on top shelf where printer is....

Yea, I knew my card couldn't handle 4k, just figured "if" I could afford it, along with everything else, I would get a card down the road!!!

Here are some solutions which you will have to spend some extra money to be spent:

1) Get bigger desk and DVI to displayport for the new monitor and have old monitor for your tv.
2) Get hdmi to displayport or DVI to displayport and some speaker if buy the ROG. (You will have to do some research to see the difference between those two converters benefits/cons)
3) Get VESA mount for the ROG and mount it to the wall.

If you are planning to take Asus Rog, please don't go buy gtx 960, it wouldn't do the justice for 144hz monitor.

Buy the listed and you would still be under budget. Also if you need to upgrade your card to support 2560 x 1440 then I suggest either the GTX 970 or GTX 980, both would support 1440p resolutions and provide decent - kick(butt) frame rates

If you get that sound card just get the base model of it without the knob. It's glitched from what I heard...something about it downgrading the audio. I own that same card without the knob , its pretty good.

There's no point in you picking up a 4k, or 144 hz monitor unless you're planning on upgrading. Your system is not fast enough for either. Consider upgrading graphics card before upgrading the monitor

I would love a new bigger desk, but live in an apartment, so no room.

Just gonna move the printer off top of desk ( only the scanner works) put tv where it's at and new monitor where the tv was....

My motherboard has no other slots, other than for a video card. Can't even do SLI if I wanted too. I've hated that since the day I got it. So no sound card for me....

Will go for the GTX970, since it's 170.00 cheaper.
