Which settlement do you spend the most time grooming / improving? Where do you store all your ill-gotten loot?

I have Spectacle Island cleared and am in the process of moving all my stuff to it...Sanctuary is too noisy now.

I think my favorite is still the drive-in, personally. With so much room to work with, it's possible to build some really massive structures (using the weapon drop exploit, natch) that you can get really creative.

That said, I still use Sanctuary as my home base because I'm all set up there and am too lazy to move. I will FT back to Home Plate occasionally for quick loot drops, but at the end of the day it all makes it back to Sanctuary.

The Drive in Theater got too crowded...plus, maybe because of my level or game progression, but I've had to almost completely wall it off and post heavy MGs all around because super mutants keep "visiting"

Also, you are aware that Spectacle Island has more space right?

Indeed. Although I haven't progressed far enough in game to see it in person yet. I hit a gamebreaking bug and had to quit playing. I just built a new PC last weekend, though, so maybe things will behave now.

Did the new PC fix it? And what was the bug (I has it on PS4, and reaaaalllly hoping Bethesda keeps to their word about having mod support on consoles).

So, since starting the game I was having periodic graphical crashes. They would often occur when fast traveling to some place or sometimes just looking in a certain direction. For instance, I could run around an area all I wanted until I turned to look in a certain direction, and then BAM! Crash to desktop.

In the case of the game breaking bug, I had to press a button during the quest to retrieve Strong. Any time I looked in the direction of the button, the game crashed. What's worse is that the new PC didn't fix the problem. This was both good and bad. The bad was obvious, but the good was that it allowed me to narrow down the issue since the only carryover from the old machine was the GPU that I bought in November.

In the end, I think the fix was to actually down clock my GPU. I have an R9 380 that came overclocked to 990 MHz out of the box. And while I had no heat problems (I've never even heard the fans throttle up to 100% except for when I forced them to 100%) it seemed to be a timing issue. In a way, it makes some sense for a game engine that still relies on FPS counts to behave normally. Unlocking the FPS to allow above 60 FPS (via some ini settings) can actually cause game crashes as well. So, when I play FO4, I just have to downclock my GPU.

Now it's just a matter of getting interested in the game now. It's hard to get back into a game like this after taking such a long break.

TL;DR: It was a graphical timing issue. I had to downclock my GPU to fix the game.

Because of the somewhat central location, the drive-in will make a very practical base for those in the new survival mode. As best I can tell, it's nearly dead center.
