i keep trying the tequinique to find passwords through the link on steam and im not getting the emails

If someone has commandeered your account, then they're probably redirecting it to their email address. Your best bet is to follow the Valve support path and get your account re-assigned to you.

I had this exact problem myself a year ago. I got NO help from Valve and had to buy HL all over again. Hope you have better luck than I do.

I've had the same thing happen to me a couple times. It seems it seems certain things cause your valve account to lock up and it won't send you the emails to reset your password. I don't know why/what causes it, but it's happened to me twice. Follow the link that Flippy gave and start a support ticket they'll manually reset your pw and send you the emails.
