Trippey it's not like that at all lol. I've been using TF2 like that for a long time, and when I tried fast weapon switch a couple of years ago, I didn't like it. I guess I can try it again.

With any class, it's all about one kill at a time. No matter what class I play, I always try to stay at full health when possible. With soldier specifically though, high ground helps a lot. Aim for the feet reduces your chances of missing your target. If you know a pyro is in front of you, most of the time they will airblast, so what I like to do is fine a corner or some cover and shoot around it while moving back and forth into that cover. Soldiers are slow walkers, so rocket jumping to your objective helps the mobility out. Hope this helps.

Depends on your play style; some soldiers walk around without rocket jumping and favor the shotgun, other soldiers like to rocket jump all over the place.

I didn't think about that actually, but it makes sense. The solider doesn't really do well in open areas due to his weapons and slowness. Enemies being bunched up in a enclosed area (like a tunnel) are easier to kill.
