gamesurge has a web irc chat client build into it's webpage for those who can't get another client.

One thing to think about is you can get IRC clients that can be embedded into webpages. SO if the web team wanted it wouldn't be hard to just setup a url (like www.edgegamers.org/chat) with an embedded IRC client that sends you to the right spot and all the user needs to do is type in a username and pass. I did this on my personal site. The IRC client I'm using is written in Java so it should work on everything. It doesn't have all the features of mIRC but it works well

If you want this to open in a tab instead of its own window, define that IRC link as a startup URL in the settings for the client. Then start chrome://chatzilla/content/ in a new tab. It breaks the client a bit- you lose the client's context menu to the browser's and clicking an IRC links pops you out to a new window. But if all you're using IRC for is eGO, then none of that really matters.

Well, since at eGO we do things big..Id like to see a good majority of the clan idling. It doesnt take up much cpu or bandwidth, and since we have so many people...we could be the largest channel on gamesurge rather easily.

I think we should set up a bar at the top of the page next to "Ventrilo information."
This link should say IRC information or something and have a popup with instructions on how to get on IRC.
I agree that this could be a useful tool to get hold of an admin, or just talk about whatever. Ive been in for the last few days and we rarely talk about game stuff so just get on it! Perfect while you are in class on your laptop or at work!

Heater, why don't you PM that to one of the Council members and see what they think? I think the idea may have merit.
