animated avatar?

I see a few people toting animated avatars, was just curious how to get those to work?

I'ved tried, and they never animate after I upload them.

Make sure it fits to BOTH the requirements of:

150x150 max size pixels
70kb max size file

ahh... its that max file size that is killing it. 70kb is really low for an animated avatar.

Indeed. I would recommend using a gif editor and removing a couple of frames. Maybe like every 3rd or 4th. Crop the image a little and lower the resolution a bit. This will help meet the size restriction. Here is a link for a free online .gif editor I have used before (current avatar was made from this) http://ezgif.com/.

Also, keep in mind those are the restrictions for Dedicated Supporters. Non dedicated supporters have lower pixel dimensions and size.

Ah yes, I forgot that was a thing that changed.

But yeah, cut out a couple frames, make it a little more fuzzy (less quality). Thanks for the info-bomb, Havok!

Was just going to say.. i had one at like 36k and 90x90px, still didn't work.

the non-DS dimensions must be extremely small.

Also, sucks because becoming a supporter REQUIRES Paypal, and I cannot link my paypal to my discover card... and have other issues with paypal.

Remove this requirement, and i'll become a DS.
