Hello everyone,
I've been a part of Edge Gamers for about a month and a half now. I love our community, we've had some great times on Teamspeak and it really brings playing Battlefield to a whole new level, especially when you have awesome teammates who communicate. So thank you to everyone for making this place what it is.
I did want to run something by you guys as a way of potentially improving our community even more so, specifically our servers. It's no secret that Battlefield 4 has problems with packet loss more often than not. However, this problem seems to be exasperated when we have higher ping players in our servers. On a slightly related note, some Dice developers have actually directly said that in certain instances, higher ping players have an advantage with regards to hit detection.
I've spoken to Beemer on TS about this and he said that traditionally, eGO does not kick based on ping. Maybe we should take a deeper look at this rule?
I've played on some other servers which consistently kick players with an unreasonable ping, and packet loss is considerably less, if not non-existent.
I'm by no means a network engineer or anything but I've experienced / seen enough anecdotal evidence that suggests this might help out. I'd appreciate some feedback.
