Battlefield Division What to do and NOT do to as a Admin

- When using admin commands which require a reason (IE kick/ban), use the infraction caused as the reason (IE Language, Disrespect, Griefing, etc) - Nothing else needs to be put there other then basically what rule they broke.

- If you aren't sure if something is allowed or not - Ask another admin or one of leadership. As the saying goes - It is better to be safe than sorry.

- If you believe someone was banned but appears to be circumventing the ban - DO NOT ask the player about it or bring it up in chat for the world to see. Instead, contact one of leadership about it and see if the player was unbanned or if the ban time was shortened, or if they could look into it.

- If you see another member misbehaving, depending on the situation, ask/warn them to stop or contact one of leadership. Just because someone is a member or admin-rank doesn't grant them any reason to break the rules. We are held to a higher standard than that of the pubs/regulars that play on our servers, and if we ourselves are breaking the rules then it just shows a image of "hey this is allowed because he's doing it, so I'll do it too"..

- If you believe someone is hacking - DO NOT publicly say it. Do your job as a admin and spectate the player, record a demo (and type status in console after you start recording), and submit a ban request.

- If you see something you know is against the rules - take the appropriate action. Admin is a privilege, not a right. You were given it because leadership believed you could use it when needed, as needed - they trust you with it. If you don't want to admin, let one of leadership know. The same thing as above, if something goes on long enough and it isn't being dealt with, some players might believe "this is ok so I'll do it too", when they shouldn't be.

- If admin doesn't appear to be working - DO NOT say anything about it in chat! Even if you try to use admin only chat, it may not go to admin chat, but instead everything you wrote, including the admin chat command, could go to public chat. If admin doesn't appear to be working, contact a member of leadership immediately so the problem can be addressed.

A good way to see if admin is working is when you join a server - try using a command that won't show anything to other players, such as a console command. For Source Games, you could try typing sm_who in console. If admin is working, this will show you a list in the console of players in the server and if they have admin access or not ; If admin isn't working, it'll show a message "You do not have access to this command" or something similar.

Adding on - You are a member of eGO. Admin or no admin, tag or no tag, you are expected to abide by the rules put in place of any server you join. More particularly when playing with the clan tag, you are representing eGO. Breaking the rules in any shape or form is NOT something that should be happening, especially when it is done on purpose.

If you are new to a server, obviously you may not know the rules - but that doesn't mean you can't look for them or ask about them. A good rule of thumb - if we don't allow it on our servers, then don't do it on other servers.

You are taught these things in admin class, and I can tell you, leadership will NOT have an issue making you go through another class, should you forget what you were taught

These two points are ones that I constantly am having to remind other admins of:
1: Never, under ANY circumstance, accuse another player of hacking. Don't even joke about it in chat. Do not go around jokingly accusing other eGO members, or other players for that matter, of hacking. Hacking is NOT a joke and is something we take very seriously as admins. If players see eGO members accusing people of hacking, even if it's in jest, this can cause serious issues (especially if the accused is another eGO member) and can, like Beemer said make other players think that: "hey this is allowed because he's doing it, so I'll do it too".. and start accusing other players, or eGO members, of hacking.

2: Don't use !commands.* Just don't. I always recommend using /commands over !commands any day. It avoids potential headaches and if you make a mistake (say you spell the offender's name wrong that you are trying to kick) it doesn't show up in global chat for all to laugh at or for the offender to get tipped off. If you !kick a player and he doesn't get kicked then the entire server knows admin is down and 90% of the time anarchy sets in, same goes for bans and warns. If admin is down do NOT ever ask in global chat if it is down or run a !command to test (use /command). Like seriously, don't ever do this. I've seen this happen more often then I ever should.

Also as a side note, don't do !ad for admin chat. Like seriously...don't do that...please...

For example, if multiple players are entering spawn and warnings have been issued and are being ignored then a !kick of one of the offending players will serve to alert the other rule breakers that an admin is taking action against the offenders.

Although I agree - Not a lot of harm done, as he posted he wanted to copy part of what I wrote on the eG thread I made.

That and also I've briefly been talking with him about making it more BF specific, since some of what's there is for Source-games.

Either way - Nice to see it's getting some attention, as these things tend to happen quite frequently.

Actually, I kinda prefer using the ! commands in certain circumstances for the reason of tipping off potential rule breakers into NOT doing something. Sad to say but if they know big brother is watching, they most likely wont do it.

The general reasoning behind why I put that one is for when admin is down, or if you're wanting to do a "Is it down" check by using a non-visible command before using other commands, such as !commands, if that makes sense, although not sure of any non-visible commands for BF if admin were to go down.

How about admin conduct in terms of their effect on the other players? I really really think we need to address things like team stacking and pub stomping in BF4, specifically the Shanghai server. I see a few admins that use it as their tryhard practice server and they end up pissing everyone else off when they go 220-10 in a helicopter. If it was just once in a while, it wouldn't be such a big deal. But multiple games in a row every day? I have gotten private messages over this from regular players.

Now, if you want to go into a random server and do that I don't think anyone has a problem. But when you put on an eGO tag and do it... I think it's in really really poor taste and it certainly sends the wrong message to the community and players on our servers.

Now, before you go and say it. YES! I fly helicopters exclusively! But I don't tryhard ever. In fact, I tend to involve myself in a little self-deprecation for the sake of the server. So I do silly things like flying low or only trying to kill the enemy heli with tows, etc.

There's no reason why other admins can't get their heli fix in without pissing everyone else off in the server.

Thanks Beemer! Good advice for all.... New and seasoned admins. And good point h2h0e. I always get positive feed back when we do that. SoS can become unbalanced quick, but with eGO admin on to look out for the well being of the players and servers it can be fun for all! Keep up the good work eGO.
