Realism was just cancelled due to only 15 people showing up. At this point, I think I may be done trying. It used to be such a prestigious event, now its a crap shoot, with one or maybe 2 leadership members showing up, even the regulars dont come.

Is this all we think about our division? Is this the support that we show our EC's?

Im trying hard not to be preachy, but come on people... its a fun event. If you have any love for realism, show up early next week. Please! and thank you in advance.

We need more people, or we may as well say, 'Realism was fun while it lasted...'

Q

This is unfortunate.. I've been trying to make it to events, although the past week and a bit I've been swamped by moving back home and work.

I'm wondering, are a lot of people unable to make Saturday nights now? Should we be moving days? Is there lost interest? I know events in general have been struggling lately.

I love realism and look forward to our Saturday event and was a bit late do to Spring/Summer schedule now. By the time I got on at 8:20pm no one was on.

I'd say starting at 8:30/9pm may be better as daylight in the Spring/Summer is much later than Winter causing some us to be outdoors later.

Sorry at the time I was telling the girl of my dreams how I felt about her, then was super close to kissing her, but her father showed up just before it

I would love to do events, but I work 11-11 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and then a shorter shift one other day, which is usually Saturday.

Unfortunately I had to work this Saturday 11:00-9:30. Keep in mind that these next 2 weeks are finals weeks for college students (luckily I graduated in December hehe), so we might not have a good turnout. I make it to all the events that I can, but with me only having Sunday, Monday, and Fridays off I don't often get to participate, as we don't hold events on Sunday, and most Fridays and Mondays. These days are not set in stone, as I do work tomorrow sadly -_-.

Good news is, since I work tomorrow I am off next Saturday and can do realism!

I've been doing what I could to get activity for Realism the last couple months. Granted I'm about to start working my butt off again for the next couple months.

Just going off of what Q said, this is the reason there won't be another campaign for the foreseeable future...if we can't get enough people at our regular realisms, there won't be enough people for a full campaign, and the EC's and myself won't bother making a campaign.

I know people are busy on Saturday's and things come up, people have moved on etc...but it's sad to see an event that used to be the most popular event in eGO get cancelled due to lack of attendance.

Please, PLEASE, don't hesitate to contact myself or the other EC's about events you wanna try out, or concerns about the scheduling.

RSVP realism slots for Saturdays so we all can plan accordingly. If enough people do not RSVP then there will be no expectations and the EC's will not have to waste their valuable time spent behind the scenes picking maps setting up the server and planning it out.

Using the RSVP system should be used as a the eGO members word that they can really make it. If they RSVP multiple time and do not show they should not be allowed to attend the event for a period of time.

Also please consider a 8:30/9:00 est start for Spring/Summer realism.

RSVP realism! (BYOB)

We are getting to a sad point if we need to consider a RSVP system like the one mentioned above. People just need to show up. I will admit I was not there yesterday (hanging with friends from out of town all day). But I do try to make every event and the sad thing is it is usually the same small group of people every time making the effort for events. Why are people not wanting to come to events anymore?

I don't think we are at a sad point at all. We just have fewer people than before and within that base people can have scheduling issues. RSVP would just make it easier to manage. If we have at least 20 RSVP then the event should go on as scheduled and people who do not RSVP still of course can join but at least we would have enough to play realism for an hour if no one else showed.

If we do not get the 20 then we just move on and say it is what it is. Telling people they have to come will not change anything. Advanced planning will just alleviate expectations that are not met and the EC's having to do any pre-planning.

We simply are at that point folks might as will handle it maturely as the game is in its life cycle.

Its true the game is dying =( I do not agree with people being forced to come as well. I remember the 1v1 tourny and how that went with people using rsvp (not so well). This does not just pertain to realism, other events have had numbers drop as well.

I myself have been lacking in my attendance to events. I haven't even been able to show up to my night time arma 3 group with my uncle. This is because of work as I do not have a set schedule and I also am on call. I will do my best to show up to the events but some time work or family calls.

I do my best but I am working 9 hour shifts all week and working saturdays so when i do get on I want to relax and enjoy my time off. this was my fist saturday in a couple months ive had off and spent the night with family. I do enjoy realism but the last few ive been to just have not lived up to the past ones in being fun and enjoyable. I dont know maybe I will get back into them but just too much going on right now that I do not want to get in to

Moving the date and time has been tested, and made no difference. We have tried realism on different days and the attendence went down even more. If the time were to move, if ever, it would move to an earlier time slot. As is, our EURO players struggle to make 8pm EST. Moving it later, just makes it worse. I dont blame extra sunlight, it has been an issue for most of the winter!

How constructive....

This was not intended to antagonize anyone or ask for explanations. I know real life comes first. It always has. No one will force you to come, but the daylight hours have always been the same, the european members would still make the effort, (albeit very drunk by that time, in most cases :) ) and everyone else with lives and things to do outside of gaming still came on saturday. Many times it was too full to accomodate everyone, and some had to step out for the second map.

Im not saying that you guys have to do better. Im saying, we should all want to do better. Crom and Havok are right, this game is dying, which is why we should all try a little harder, if possible, or we can just watch it slip away. I dont want it to go away, I love realism. I think with a little TLC, we can turn this around, at least better than what we have done.

There is another way to do this... I know we have our little green messages in the server that say that realism is open to all. If ten of us get 1 person to come, well thats almost full. I can think of a couple of pubs that would probably love to come and play. Brush up on those rules, Glue, I am going to try to get us some more players. I will start asking around friday night, and saturday during the day, I will reach out to a handful of people and see if I can bolster this attendance a bit.

You bring up a good point here Glue. I have a hard time making realism at the current time slot. For me it is at 1:00 AM and that's me being in the UK which is the closest timezone to the east coast of North America. Central Europe would be 2:00 AM and Eastern Europe would be 3:00 AM. Pushing it back would make it really difficult for I and other Euro's from making it.

Very nice post here tip. Brought up a lot of good points!

Sorry Q, I attend if at all possible. I had a birthday party three weeks ago (my Birthday) and went out to dinner in Connecticut two weeks ago. This past Saturday I checked TS and there was no realism room and noone in leadership on so I assumed it was not scheduled.. What I will never do is play a different comp game while realism is going on!

Often we just end up in the bottom room anyway, and leadership isn't always there! Just drop us a line and someone's usually around.

Great points Q. I'm trying with work being a bit of a nightmare, I've hardly gotten to touch my computer at all since I moved home. I'm going to try and be there!
