I thought that they added something so you cant use temporary phone numbers, so it has to be a real legit phone number.

Everyone's favorite McSkillet posted a video about this. They somehow found a way to make it to where it has to be a real phone number that is linked to your mobile autenticated account. Not sure how it works entirely though.

Talking out of my rear here, but I believe phone numbers have a way to identify what carrier they are, similar to how certain IP addresses can be linked to certain computers/routers without fail.

If this prime matchmaking truly does only use real phone number, it will deter smurfs. However, I don't think that there will be 0 smurfs. It will cut down the number significantly, just not completely. We should also be grateful that valve IS ACTUALLY LISTENING TO THE COMMUNITY. I mean, look on Youtube. People have been talking about "prime matchmaking" for at least a year.
