Scrambled Eggs are Hard to Make...

First of all, excuse the lame title... Okay, I am not sure if auto scramble is a Valve thing or if we control auto scramble on our own servers, but lately the scrambles have been terrible. Especially in Dustbowl, teams seem to always be stacked, and a scramble does not happen until 4 or 5 rounds of painful losses. Yes, there is !sausage, but only two or three people ever use it, therefore never putting it in use. I have seen stacked teams kill the server, and I am wondering is there any way we could make a scramble easier to happen? Maybe shorten the amount of losses or the time those losses were made to trigger a scramble? Or maybe shortening the number of votes needed for a scramble? Thank you for your time!

As far as I know, auto-scramble is a valve feature... I wonder if there's a way to disable or control it with a plugin.

If I recall after a certain number on successive wins... It auto scrambles. I forget what the ratio is.

The teams will scramble if there is a large domination difference (I believe), on DB it will scramble if blu wins too quickly (something like under 2 min), or a certain number of wins in a row. It can also be done manually by Pzycho or I.

We don't use the valve auto-scramble feature. We use gScramble. Which takes a lot more things into account before balancing.

Team stacking does cause issues on Dustbowl. If BLU is strong enough (and RED weak enough) to blitz through all three stages in short order, you'll often see half of RED leave the server (and this will especially happen if the new BLU team gets hung up on the first stage). This can cause a chain reaction, resulting in a near-empty server in fairly short order.

I don't know if we have any good solutions, but this does happen with some frequency.

Scrambles are made to keep the games fair an enjoyable for all players on the server, if it does the opposite I don't see why we can't make changes.

That being said, I see exactly what Wakka is talking about literally every day on dustbowl. Most of the time scrambles occur but they do not really scramble the teams enough to get a balanced game.

Another option is, if there are enough members on that are in TS or on your friends list, try asking to see if they can vote. I know when people ask it can help make it scramble. I myself vote whenever I see one

It also seems that teams are uneven until the beginning of the next round, down three players on a team seems to make it work faster? I join spec if i see the other team is down, so people don't get auto'ed.

Maybe we could lower the number a bit for the scrambles?

I join the game as random each time so it's random's fault if I pick the dominant team. I will type !sausage if the past couple of rounds were won fairly easily. I'll also pick a class I don't normally play as well to balance it out if I am on the dominant team. Dustbowl can be really chokepoint centered, but once you pass the chokepoints, it's fairly simple to keep going. Turbine on the otherhand can be really bad if a team get control of the center. If you are trapped in your base, you can either go out the door and get killed by a sentry, sniper or explosive spam. Going from the top you get spammed out by explosives again or huntsman or heavies. Down right you will get sniped most likely.

The best you can do with unbalanced teams is switch over to the losing team which Mister36 does all the time. He likes a challenge, he wants to keep the server up, or both.

Good point Derpy, I hate being balenced. I always love going against Steel, you, or Halo but then I get balenced. Also dieing out of nowhere just to be balenced! It is quite dumb but, whatever.

The scrambles on Dustbowl have always been perfectly fair and balanced. Mhm.
Seriously though, pretty much what everyone said above. Idk why I'm even posting this.

Oh yea

Switch over to the losing team which is whatever team Mister36 is on.

I was thinking the same thing as Tea - lower the number of !sausages required to initiate a scramble. I've read several people saying they type !sausage when teams are stacked, but how many times have you actually seen this initiate a scramble? Zero in my experience, in many many hours.

When teams are obviously stacked, you might get four or five e/eG/eGOs to jump in with you when you type !sausage, but it seems like a majority of the people on the server have no idea what the command even means... !bacon, !eggs, !roflcoptorlolol comments invariably follow from random pub players.

I am of the mind that if four (or maybe five) people know what !sausage means and type it, it should attempt a balance immediately and not wait for a majority of players to vote. If you get that many votes, there is clearly a problem... Halo and I will often type it on DB or Turbine and it doesn't do a single thing, and when two heavy mains are on the same team with good medics, you can bet the opposite team would be typing !sausage if they had any idea what it did!

Hmm, in my experience it worked all the time. Everyone knew what it was for, it showed up in chat every 20 mins or so.

I've seen people type (and I have typed) !sausage to try and get a scramble before, but I've never seen enough votes cast to actually initiate one manually during gameplay. I cannot be the only one? Anyone else actually see !sausage work?

I'm not saying it is broken, I'm saying we never get enough votes to actually trigger the scramble.

Is it a server statistic that can be checked by leadership? I would be interested in seeing how many scrambles were initiated in the last couple of months due to enough players typing !sausage. If I was a betting man I'd wager the number is crazy low (if not 0).
