I've got a game (Unturned) that's using all of my computer's ram, does anyone know of a way to force it to make do with less? When there's nothing else running, it starts at 20% Ram and rapidly climbs to 100% over the span of a minute or less. It then promptly crashes if left to it's own devices. If anyone can give me some insight as to what is causing this, I'd appreciate it.

System: Surface Book

OS: Windows 10

Processor: Intel i7

GPU: NVIDIA Maxwell 940M

RAM: 8gb

Have Tried:
Reinstalling both game and graphics drivers
/chkdsk /f
External program to manage memory

Browsing google a bit, it seems to be a common issue with this game. Have you reinstalled the game?

several times. tried reinstalling my Graphics drivers and everything. and the common solution, increasing the page file size, did nothing either.

A long shot idea: Search cmd and right click on it, run in admin mode. Then type /chkdsk /f. If it asks you to do it on the next restart hit Y and press enter. Restart your PC and let it run. Small chance that you may fix the issue (very low probability, however).

yep, turned everything off and put the res as low as it would go. Got 100+ FPS consistently like that, but same RAM issue. I'm thinking it's a problem that isn't based in the game specifically, but manifests there because of something unique about it. It is the only game I have that is developed in unity. I'm thinking it's my driver since the problem started not long after I updated it. That being said, when I rolled it back, it didn't help. So i'm kind of at a loss.

Silly question, but does it happen with any other application? If it is only with this one game, I would attribute it to a memory leak within that game.

I just noticed you're using a Surface book. Do you have it connected to the port replicator and/or external monitor(s)? If so, try disconnecting that. At work our desktop support group was evaluating some of them and noticed performance and reliability issues initially with the Surface book and that port replicator.

I would remove any memory managers (as you mentioned in OP) since Windows does a decent job at it these days. In my opinion, you don't want the memory manager for Windows and a third party fighting over freeing up resources. Have you made changes to the page file?

No other application, but I have no other games that run in a Unity environment so it could still be Unity and not Unturned itself.

No external monitors. and if by port replicators you mean USB port Hubs, the answer is also no. When I first got it, I tried using one that I had from my last computer, but I had trouble getting it to recognize a mouse and an external drive at the same time.

The problem existed before I installed the memory manager, the primary reason I got it was so I could manually clear the ram and make it run long enough to mess around with some of the new updates that came out.

In case it helps, here's a list of all my peripherals.

Headphones: RIG 505 Noise Canceling Gaming Headset

Mouse: Logitech G602 Wireless Gaming Mouse (used in endurance mode)

External Storage: Segate Backup Plus 4TB Portable Hard Drive

This is what I was referring to by ways of port replicator.

When you reinstalled the game, did you delete all of the folders to ensure no corrupted files left behind?
