The couple of years before I was conscripted I rode a motor cycle and I met my wife at that time, we attended the same evening classes and club at our old school.
The two years I was in the Army was the best years of my life.
I was drafted into the Royal Artillary in Shropshire, and within the first week they asked for volunteers for the Military Police which were stationed just out side London,so all the Londoner's stepped foreward.
We had to do some law and the Judges rules plus marching, after 4 months those that passed were posted to another barracks. I was sent to Colchester near the east coast.
I was only there about a week when I was sent on detachment to Brentwood, the East Anglian Regiment was there. Although I was only a Lance Corporal, on duty I had the Authority of the Provost Marshal who was a Lieut/colonel, so I could command other ranks up to Lieut/colonel in cluding foreign troops in Britain.
I self taught myself to drive, which was good as I had a lot of time to spare, at the weekend's our sargeant and corporal went home so we could do what we wished. My fiance (wife) came up to visit and cook dinner for the three of us who remained.
One evening my offsider and I dropped into the local pub for a drink which was full of squadie's, thinking the worse we were surprise when so many of the squadie's wanted to buy us a drink, we thanked them but declined as we were on duty.
Must explain that the town was about one and a half miles from the barrack's and up a very steep hill and no buses.
We often gave squadie's a lift back to barrack's specially Sunday evening's.
One day we had to go to Colchester to pick up some store's, on the way we passe a truck driving over the speed limit, we stopped him and found out he was the last truck in the convoy, he was trying to catch up. We left him and sped after the first vehicle which contained two officer's.
Caught them having lunch in a restaurant, we booked the one who was driving for speeding, and he complaind he was not speeding so we explained to him as first vehice in the convoy his speed should be slow enough that the last vehicle did not have to speed to keep up. His C.O was not very happy with him.
My wife reckons I should include some of the things that happened to me but I am not so sure, what do you guys think? I have plenty of stories to tell. :confused1:

Any stores on advice for me to purswade a girl to go out with me?

There is nothing I hate more when taking multiple vehicles to a location than following someone who speeds and lane hops as if they are trying to lose you, haha! Especially when you are following them because you don't know the way there.

How is your shoulder doing London? I would love to hear all the stories you have to tell, I am sure we can all learn something.
