Tech Help File Transfering

Is there a program that will allow you to get all the files on a hard drive and put it in a flash drive?

One of my dads friends wants to get the files off a dead laptop ( hard drive still works ) and put it on a flash drive. ( like all of the files )

I know of one program that would transfer all files, operating system and all and put it into a new hard drive that has nothing on it. But I looked it up and there is nothing that I can find that will do that and put it in a flash drive.

I would like to know, to look up a way to do what I mentioned.

hook the hd up as a slave in a different tower. This will allow you to boot on the current hard drive, and browse the drive from the dead comp just like you would your C: drive.

That would be the easiest way I can think of.
