Hey guys, I'm from gmod division. I recently got interested in tf2 as I'm taking a bit of a break from gmod. Was just wondering if anyone could give me some general pointers to tf2.

Soldier's a good pick when you're starting out.

- Make sure you activate your hitsound and hit numbers in the advanced options, this will help you loads.

- Scout, Engi, Spy, Sniper have 125 Health
Medic has 150 Health
Demo and Pyro has 175 health
Soldier has 200 Health
and Heavy has 300 health.

- Press E for medic if there's one nearby and you're a little hurt, it helps a bit.

- Right click does the following
Scopes in - Sniper
Activates Ubercharge - Medic
Rotate buildings - Engi
Revs up minigun - Heavy
and Detonates stickies - Demoman

- Remember if you're playing medic, once you have 100% uberchage, wait until the right time, but if you're in trouble, pop it. It's better to have the uber popped, than to wait in respawn with the enemy gaining two points for dropping you.

- Move around, even scoping in as Sniper, moving around can help tons, and if you're scout. in battle, if you stop moving, you're toast.

- Keep in mind of the team comp, if you press tab and see there's 2 or 3 of a certain class, don't play that class. Even if it's Medics.

Looking at TF2 from the outside it might seem like a silly fun game (which it most certainly is), but it is also very complex once you really get into it. There are so many things each class can do which could take a long time to master...I have almost 5000 hours and there are still a lot of things I need some practice on.

Antraze already touched on a few things which are definitely tips to keep in mind, but really the best way to learn is to just get in and play. Practice practice practice! Watching more experienced players as they fly around doing things that seem far beyond you may seem daunting, but every TF2 player feels like that at the start. Watch and learn, and soon you will be on your way.

Hope to see you in game with us, and of course you can hang out in teamspeak with us and we will be happy to answer any questions you have as you go along!

Thanks for the tips guys, and I'll be sure to drop in. I guess seeing people with 10,000+ hours doing amazing things is normal. Myself having less than 50, at least 10 of which were just idling for some items, it is quite a bit to take in...... Another question (I'm full of em' aren't I?): I've heard spy is really hard, but really rewarding, is this true?

Edit:

One other thing, what's the best time to get on so that there's about 6 players per team?

Spy is not all that difficult. For instance, any one of us in the TF2 Division could probably switch to Spy and get a positive Kill/Death Ratio. However, getting truly good at Spy is what's difficult. The better I get at Spy, the worse I get at all the other classes... It's just so different from the rest.

Oftentimes for about 6v6, Turbine will stay that way for awhile around 11:00 AM to 12:30ish PM. I would suggest staying on till the server gets full, though. In 6v6, a good player can absolutely dominate the field. at 12v12, you can avoid Dez.

My personal tip is this: Play those classes that no one wants to play. Heavy, Medic, Engie... Because those particular classes teach you more than any other how the game itself works. Heavy teaches you how to protect a Medic, and since you'll be standing still most of the time, how an enemy team moves. Medic teaches you how to properly push, and also the meta of the Ubercharge (Secondary tip for Med, try to use regular medigun for awhile). Finally, Engineer teaches you where Sentries go.

Good luck in your hat-wearing endeavors, and I look forward to seeing you around our servers!

You look around and aim with the mouse. You shoot with mouse1. You move with wasd (unless you're Gerbil who moves with qazx). And you'll rage a lot. Those are my tips.

EDIT: I'm also from GMod.

It's a great game. Play pyro and set the world on fire!

In all seriousness, try every class and see what you like and enjoy the most! You pick up tricks as you go

Grab the pyro and W+M1 your way to victory.. Hai I used to do events around here when dinosaurs still walked the earth.

Wooh, that spy man is a great class. Would def recommend. Like I've seen a few others say, the best way to get better is to just jump in and rage until you realize you're good.

I have yet to hit that point :c

Do not fear the bee, bee is gentle and sweet like honey....

Unless bee is sniper or scout, then definitely fear the bee
