(Compton wrote this, not I)
Coire, France
D-Day +13.
The Squad of American's were against a wall in the narrow alley that lead into the open courtyard in the middle of Coire. Captain Tip, Sergeant Compton, Corporal Tagger and Private Tecmoo. Compton lead, he poked his head around the corner and saw nothing but ruined buildings, and lots of places to be shot from.
"See anything?"
"If I saw anything Private, I'd shoot it."
"Let me go first."
"Stay in line Private." Captain Tip frowned, then muttered under his breath, "Damn kids. See anything Compton."
"Just a bunch of places to get killed from, I think we should find a new way to send everyone. I mean maybe one squad this way, but not the whole company."
"Let me go to those ruins, I can see the other half of the courtyard." Tecmoo moved as he spoke, eager to prove he was the very best to the unit. He stepped around the corner, sprinting, The Sergeant reached for him, exposing himself when he heard the distinct roar of an MG42 open up. The Sergeant was lucky that Tagger was able to pull him back. The Private however, was not. The bullets tore through the American uniform and he fell to the wall, bullets skipping off the concrete sidewalk and into the dead soldier, and into the brick wall behind the body.
"He's dead, You son's a b-" Compton raised his Garand around the corner to fire, but was met with a panzerfaust rocket slamming into the corner of the building exploding. The explosion knocked the Sergeant and the Captain onto their asses. Corporal Tagger raised her BAR and opened fire.
"Jesus, Compton, Tagger lets get the hell out of here." The three remaining American solders fell back to the farm house to gather up the troops.
Across the courtyard,
"See that?" Obergefreiter Boyle spoke calmly, Schutze Hitreg poked his head up, following the eyes of the Machine Gunner.
"Should I fire?" The Rocketeer shouldered his Panzerfaust.
"Quiet boy. Only fire when you see all of a man, make sure your bullets tear him apart, that way he cannot hide behind the wall."
"or you... you know.. I can shoot through the wall."
There was an awkward silence between the two, until they heard footsteps behind them. Hitreg turned his head and nodded to the Hauptmann, "Havok."
Havok nodded back, "Report."
"I saw a man. There." Havok's eyes followed the barrel of the '42 to the corner of the alleyway. Just as he got there, an American soldier popped out, running to some nearby by rubble. Almost just as instantly, the Obergefreiter squeezed the trigger of the greatest machinegun invented, the bullets made the body of the American soldier dance, until he crumpled to the ground, when the American Rifleman turned the corner to return fire, it was met by Hitreg's rocket, who immediately lowered the panzerfaust to reload another rocket. Only when the American BAR opened fire did the three duck their heads, allowing the Americans to retreat.
The engagement had lasted only a minute. In the end there lay a boy, who was rumored to have never kissed a girl, in the middle of a foreign town, surrounded by nothing but ruined buildings and blood.

Unteroffizer Dodgy stood on the roof of the bank with his k98. He looked over when he heard someone coming out of the window, Obershutze Ravage, also carrying the iconic german rifle. The Wehrmacht unit had been stationed in Italy for only a few weeks, and they knew it was just a show of force. The real reason they'd been diverted here was to get as much gold as they could out of Italy, and with the American's advancing through Italy wiht haste after their successful invasion of Salerno, they had to hurry.
"See anything Dodgy?" Ravage looked around, "Man, you'd think we'd have those tanks up and running, I mean what if the Allies start to advance now? You I've seen a Panzer take on a Russian T34, and-"
Dodgy drowned out the incesstant rambling of the Oberschutze, who had been known from time to time to run his mouth. Dodgy almost hadn't heard the pop. But he did hear the distinct metal on metal dink, following by the dropping of Ravage's body which lay in a crumbled heap on the ground.
"Sharpshooter!" Dodgy slammed himself against the wall of the bank and as a second shot clipped the roof. He heard the soldiers around the bank run to take cover, getting ready for the allied assault.
Meanwhile, on a ladder.
"How come you get to go first. I hate staring as your ass." complained Corporal Superglue
"Because, Im the one with the sniper rifle." replied Corporal Lark, "Besides, you're Canadian." He said as he lifted himself into the bell tower.
Once Glue was up there, he retorted, "I dont really see what that has to do with anything but okay." He frowned. The two looked over the town, and at the bank. Lark adjusted the scope on his Springfield, while Glue watched the second Wehrmacht soldier come onto the roof,
"Look, another one." said Lark.
"I see him." replied Glue.
"How do you see him? I have the scope."
"I eat a lot of carrots."
"Jesus." Lark looked through his scope at the two soldiers. "Which one should I kill?"
"Well, which one has the higher rank insignia."
Lark had neglected to go over that part in his Army Manual. He picked the one running his mouth, he figured he was barking orders at the one who looked very bored. Squeezing the trigger lightly, he let the bullet do his talking. He loaded a second shot, which missed the other soldier on the roof by only a few inches.
"Great, now they know we're here. Lets get back and tell Lieutenant Top that you missed the shot."
"I hit one of them!" The two bickering corporals climbed down the ladder, this time Glue lead.
