Hi guys, I got banned from Locker server yesterday:chair: as a sniper due to an admin ban request based on his conclusion of my rule violation:

Do Not Fire Into or Towards Uncaps Unless Being Fired Upon

(Just bullets, nothing to do with any explosives.)

Then I got feedback from my contest, it's said:
SiMyth, I am sorry if there is any confusion here, but any time you fire into the uncap you shoot at your own risk. If you hit someone that is not shooting out, or atleast scoping in on the enemy you are in violation of server rules... ...

So here I'd like to take advice about some certain circumstances:
(Either enemies are in uncap or you are.)

Since you can't even scope in...
  • 1. What to do when you see an enemy ?
Or if you can scope in...
  • 2. What to do when you scope in and see an enemy who's looking at your general direction ?

  • 3. How to confirm if an enemy is shooting out when he is looking at your general direction ?

  • 4. When you peek and scope in, you see a group of enemies, how to tell which one is the the guy who just shot at you(or any teammate next to you) and what to do with them ?

  • 5. What to do when you scope in and see an enemy with his scope glint ?

(According to Battlefield Server Rules, UnCaps = UnCappable points/Main Base Spawns)

I need no sorry but some specific advice to clarify my confusion, please share your opinions.

Thank you for your reply.:)

Hello SiMyth, I'm sure someone from leadership will clarify these issues and circumstances with you but to make matters easier and for a quicker reply, try hopping onto our TeamSpeak:

ts3.edge-gamers.com

And look for anyone in the battlefield channels. I'm sorry I am unable to answer your questions or give you advice as I am short on time but hope that the matter is sorted quickly and swiftly :)

Do not fire into enemy uncap unprovoked. This means if you are scoped in and see a sniper scope in on you, you have been provoked. You don't have to die to have provocation. However, if you fire at the sniper and EA in all their glory spawns another player in front of the sniper and you hit him, you have hit an enemy in their uncap without provocation, hence fire into enemy uncap at your own peril. Firing into groups in the enemy uncap is an extremely poor idea, as there may only be one of them firing out. Also if you fire through your target and hit a player behind him, you are in violation. Hitting any player in their uncap that has made not move to provoke the enemy, firing, aiming at them, or tossing a grenade is a violation of the rule.
So in short. Don't fire in unless you are sure of your target and have provocation. Still you are doing so at your own peril. This rule exist to give the enemy a chance to fight their way out of their uncap, not be a shooting gallery in it.

Yoo~ LBrGaming, thank you for your reply and guidance.

I think these are common problems since some related chat messages kept showing on my screen when I was playing or spectating in eGO server, so I'd like some advice as FAQs, Teamspeak certainly could be a quick way, but that's in words, making it clear and stay as a written thread would be a better way IMHO.

Anyway I got 2 days before unban, I hope to figure it out in time.:P

Wow jtipton you are a quick typer, and thank you, you gave me the explanation that I need.

RISK is your point, which is also mine.

I have no doubt about the original intention of this rule, but it is nearly impractical:

As you described, no one except AI players can be that accurate in a 64 players server(especially in Locker or Metro), a few violations are inevitable in base rape situation, it's a reality which isn't under control.

Since there's always accident, this means that the rule contains a hidden logic to punish player who's not doing anything wrong, which is unfair:O, especially to those aggressive players.

A better way to give the enemy a chance to fight their way out of their uncap, would be some plugins with functions like votenuke or autonuke, it's risk-free and fair to all players at least.

uncap = uncappable zone/ spawn area
imagine being a sniper, you don't know the distance where the infantry out of bounds is.
is it your fault when you don't know the boundaries?
according to the rules you have to change everything you know of reaction,
"if you hit someone that isn't shooting or atleast scoping in you are in violation of server rules"
if I am walking out of uncap and I see an enemy, I can only draw my weapon once I am out of the uncap or else I would be fired upon legitimately, I'm pretty sure there isn't even a third person animation for looking down your sights.
Thank you for you reply k/tty.

As you said, imagine being a sniper, you aimed at enemyA legitimately and fired, then enemyB ran out, took your bullet and got killed... VIOLATION!:chair:

Uncap is a small area, if the whole enemy team keep respawning in there, and they got many tickets remaining, such accident happen eventually, when it happened to you 2 or 3 times, you got kicked, when these happened again next day, you got banned.

It's like, you did nothing wrong but it's still your fault.

Now that the rule has been clarified and you stated you understood let me give you some other advice on this subject:

Yes, at this point it is technically your fault because you took the chances and it appears that you really like taking these chances. Like jtipton said

Still you are doing so at your own peril.

The best piece of advice now is to just wait and let the uncap team get out of spawn so that you don't have to take a chance and get punished for repeated uncap violations. As you have admitted already that you violated the rule multiple times on multiple days. Now that you have been banned once there is a possibility that you will be permanently banned from our servers for taking your chances because it will be your fault.

Thank you for your share Grymsted.

Almost everything in battlefield is based on chances:laugh:, there are many ways to take advantage, e.g. you can improve your skill or plan & communicate in TS... ... but what you did just increases your chances.

eGO want to balance game for sure, but is it a good logic to change the risk of chance ? Is it fair to force the losing players risk free and meanwhile winning players must take it all ?

Do you remember a former game design called 'Random callouts' ?

When someone got killed nearby, his teammates will make 'Random callouts', like "we got man down!" or something else, which can be hear by both team, players can not control such automatic behavior, and don't even know they actually made that, but enemy can use this to wipe everyone else nearby.

In that case, those players who made 'Random callouts' did nothing wrong, they kept silence, but the game made 'Random callouts' for them, then they get killed as a punishment, those players took the whole risk of a chance of hiding when they are pushing.

Now we all know that it got fixed in May 26 update last year, since then the enemy could never hear those callouts. That's the right way.

This rule which we discuss, punish players who did nothing wrong just like that former game design, it forces some players to take no risk and others take the whole risk.

If you want balance, just use power to give losing team a chance, like a 30-second-nuke, everybody accept this, but don't change the risk of chance, it's unfair.

====================

Nonetheless, I'll follow current rule in game, according to it's unfair logic, sometime it's easy to use this rule as my advantage instead.

SiMyth when you get your server, set it up however you wish, and enforce your server rules however you wish. But when you are on EGO servers we ask that you obey our server rules and we will enforce them the way we see fit. If you do not like this then it is not compulsory that you play on our servers, but if you do you are subject to our rules and regulations. Thank you for your concerns about us having to enforce our rules against you, but I think we can manage.

Hohohoho...

I started the thread because of my ban but never focused on it, it's all about the logic of equal and fair.

Enforce rule in game and discuss rule in forum, that's what I did, discussion can end up with or without conclusion, but what you did is simply reject it, if bureaucracy is the way how you manage a serious rule discussion, then I think I'd be happy to stop.

Your title is 'Dedicated Supporter', look at the forum you are supporting, it's nearly inactive, is this the way you see fit ?

Why would anyone else care about this when supporters like you don't even care ?

If you just want we take what we need without any feedback or interaction, you've got it, good luck to your way.
