There is no reason not to secure your passwords at this point. I have been hit by numerous leaks lately, the latest being the Linkedin leaking of e-mails and passwords. Before that, I was a victim of the Tumblr breach, and before that, the Adobe hack.

The tool above can generate strong, random passwords for all your accounts. Currently I have an over 30 character long password on my steam, Origin, Battle.net, e-mails, everything. You just need to remember the main password you use to access your password safe.

Do not use the same password on multiple sites. I almost got hit because a log-in I used years ago shared a password, but thankfully Facebook knew I don't normally log in from Russia.

This really belongs in General Discussion or pinned, because it's so important now.

You can check two sites to see if you have been breached.

haveIbeenpwned.com is one, www.leakedsource.com is another. HaveIbeenpwned does not let you search to see if any adult sites have breached your data, though.

If you ever used the same password on more then one site, you are at risk. These are only known breaches. I use a random password for EVERY site I use now. That's how serious it is these days.

Well, thats no big deal, because only the 17 people that use myspace will be affected. But, on a serious note, even if you choose not to use a password manager (me personally using a highly encrypted password database program to store sensitive information) you do need to not use the same password for all sites. Make them long, make them strong, change them every few months. Pay attention to when these hits surface and ask yourself, could you be affected?

Within the past month or so, I had someone in Russia attempt to "recover" my password for Origin. Thanks to two step, I was covered. Changed the password for both Origin and Steam, and have not had an issue since.

My Gmail and Amazon accounts were compromised yesterday. The passwords were both different and randomly generated. Had to waste 10 minutes of my time changing the passwords and checking my order history. Hopefully next time they decide to minorly inconvenience me they at least leave a funny comment or order something hilarious for me.

I was going to use one but I decided not to because all my passwords that I have are almost the same (which is not really that good) but its so complicated that there is no point in a password manager. Maybe in a few years I will get something and use it.
