Things in John's office: June Edition

I think I'm going to do a series where I post something new I find in John's office.

Today it is floppy discs. Have not seen some for a long time. I wish I had a DOS or Windows 95 machine to fire up those floppy discs and take that trip back in time.

Anyone remember Crusdaer No Regret? Back when you played games in DOS?

Back in the DOS days, I played every game out there. One of the oddball games was Scorch (it is available in Win 10). Cool artillery game with really wild types of shells.

Still has a USB floppy drive. Got it when I bought one of my first laptops. It's when floppy drives were still being used but being phased out. Still works like a charm.

I think seeing Kendle post is more impressive than any stack of floppies or modem. What year is it?

Seeing those floppy disks sure did bring good memories back hahaha. Prince of Persia, Battle Chess, Wolfenstein 3D and my favorite old school game of all time Lotus. Thank you for posting. It bought up so much nostalgia

Scorched Earth was good by my favorite back in the day was Airborne Ranger.

I remember when AOL and Netzero would give away 1.44 floppies at every store cash register with free internet loaded.
The disc would get you on the internet using your 19.9k modem or 56k modem connection, then you would have to set up an account to surf more into the internet.
Netzero was free, AOL wanted your credit card even for the trial period, and would start charging you $14.99/month after the trial period. Unless you cancelled, which I did. Even if you cancelled AOL kept charging the credit card. Hoping you would not check your bill, which no body does or did back then. I remember my father coming to me one day and asking what the charge was for, I told him, then he realized his card had been charged for over 2 years, even after I cancelled.
He called AOL, and AOL told him sorry, unless you have a cancellation number they were not going to do anything.

I learned several valuable lessons from that, well worth my father's money (I guess). And have never been taken by scam companies like that again. RRRRrrrrrrr!
