So far my Origin account has been hacked 5 times in the past 2 months. Each time everything gets changed to Russian. I even have security set to send auth code via text to my phone, and it never does. I just get an email usually around 4AM saying my Origin/EA email has changed. When I recover it after a phone call all my secret questions, profile picture, username, email etc has been changed.

I am a Software Engineer so I run pretty tight security/firewalls on my machines, so I know it's not a key logger. If it was, they would have a whole lot more than my Origin account info, like banking, steam account, etc. I don't go to random internet sites, I don't watch porn, I use this machine for simply gaming, and paying my bills from my bank account.

All of my passwords I set are super complex and I never share a password between any email, game client, login info etc. I only run Origin on this machine which also has steam, and alot of other sensitive stuff for work. I'm running corporate grade Antivirus, and I am behind a hardware firewall in my home.

I honestly feel like it's Origin/EA getting hacked.... Anyone else experience this? Just curious.

Is your local machine/provider's DNS poisoned? Compare your nslookup/dig results against whois for Origin/EA

Run a Malwarebytes scan anyways.

I have spoken to a friend of mine who is actively in the hacking/counter-hacking business (Black Hat turned White Hat), and he was saying that pretty much all the large companies are hacked one way or another. And the groups that do it are located globally and each have their own... flavor?

For example, the ones from China hit hard, all day, like clockwork. They take everything they can until they are quickly discovered and locked out. The Russians are more subtle and slowly take information until they are discovered, which is much later on.

Sounds like EA digital security department is out-gunned here and digital security defense is a losing battle. Sorry to hear man.

I do not believe it is likely that EA/Origin account information database was hacked into. The Russians have been stealing accounts for like 4 years now and it likely has more to do with compromised email or exploiting the account recovery tools. I use a .edu email and a 35 character password and I expect no problems. Even if it was a compromised account database, the hackers would have only gotten the information you currently use, not be able to get it back 4 times after the first hack, that is very indicative of you having a compromised recovery option. Obviously Origin needs to do what steam has done to help users.
