Which GPU will you be buying and for what game

I'm going to go AMD because Free Sync is so much cheaper than G-Sync.

I'm curious about the 480. I know it won't be up to the 1080 specs. But would I notice it?

I about to do a rocking build!

I'll be selling both of my 970 reference cards for a single 1080 from MSI. The black and red theme will fit my setup much better. Down the road I'll probably pick up a second 1080, depending on how my games run on the Predator 35" ultrawide monitor. It's 3440 x 1400 @ 100hz which would look insanely good. Currently both of my 970s play everything maxed on my 2560 x 1440 144hz monitor just fine, so we shall see!

The RX 480 is in the same ballpark as the GTX 970 except with more optimization for VR

They say the 480 will be on par with the 1060 once games start using vulkan. Sounds like 480 for the long run and nvidia for the short run.

Im probably gonna try and get 2 RX 480 and run them in crossfire since they run just about as good as a 1080 and with them starting at $200 a pop, it may be doable.

And if I can only get one, they are close to a GTX 970.

I'm thinking about this. Throw in that a Free-Sync monitor is 1/2 the price of a G-Sync monitor...

rocking my GTX660 since mid-2013. planning to get GTX1060 and CPU later this year.

*edit* got GTX 1060, no regrets

My plans are to upgrade what I got and get the 1080, or SLI the 1070. They are roughly the same, I probably won't though because the max amount of monitors will be only 3.

The games that I am going to be getting which I mentioned in my previous post was BF1, No Man's Sky, Mafia III, Dues Ex: Mankind Divided and a few others later this year. I don't think that I will be getting any other than what I mentioned because I need to save for a new rig.
