I would switch out the GPU for a AMD 480 when it launches. It would save you a some money and from early leaks it will be faster then the 970 you picked.
Or if you want to spend a bit more and go with a GTX 1070 which is out now but hard to come by due to small batch sizes it seems.

Could also throw in an SSD which will make the computer feel loads faster.

Having a SSD as the main OS would work wonders when booting up and whatever apps you have installed on the SSD they will load as fast. My OS is on a 120GB that boots up in about 11 seconds, at the time of the first boot-up. After a few years having it the boot up speed is quite the same.

If you don't want to wait and are fine with slightly less performance and higher power draw, you could pick up a 980ti instead. The msi golden edition is down to 449.99. I would look at other 980 or 970 prices, but I'm at work.

I'd suggest waiting for the r9 480 (expected date = June 29th)
Heard it's supposed to be as good as the 970/980 for a way cheaper price of $200 USD
[hopefully] I will be getting this card when it comes out!

Edit: just saw someone suggested the same card, well anyway, I still suggest the 480 :3

Also what games are you aiming to play? I see you're from the Battlefield division, so I'm assuming you'd like to play BF1?
Well if so, I think you should upgrade ram to 16 GB. Just my opinion. Also, you can test if your PC will play any game at whatever settings here for BF1
I'm not the best PC-er but just my input ^_^
