Pretty sure he meant the GTX 970. The 970 was advertised as having 4GBs of VRAM but it was found out it only had 3.5, a lawsuit was started and now Nvidia owes anyone who bought a 970 $30.

I got one for the GTX980, that they are awaiting the outcome of the lawsuit.

Should be 60 bucks for making us install and run Batman AK. But, at any rate, this article explains that its possible that GTX 960 and 980 owners may have been mistakenly notified. Mistakenly, maybe, but it is unclear if those that have those cards get "something" and what that something is, in unclear. It's not uncommon for those outside the scope of the CAL may be inadvertently roped in. Various posts in this reddit thread may be citing certain card manufacturers, so it's possible that those that have video cards manufactured by a certain company, and not specifically the GTX 970 model, might be included.

In my experience with being involved with CAL's, I wouldn't be camping by my mailbox expecting a check anytime soon, GTX 960 and 980 owners.

If you ordered the GTX 970 from a reputable reseller (Best Buy, amazon, newegg, etc) between release and end of August 2016, you qualify. Check the email account tied to wherever you ordered the card. Also, websites are reporting that emails for those that have a 960 or 980 were sent in error, and predicted.

You are not forced to "collect the entire set" or upgrade whenever any of the GPU manufacturers fart out a new card every other weekend. Get simething that is within your price range and just run with it. Before I upgraded to my GTX 970, a card I plan on running with for a while further, I had a GTX 660 Ti. Before that was a GTX 260.

It's definitely not work spending 2-300 more to get that card with extra juice just to squeeze out 2-4x of AA and 10-20 FPS that will not be noticeable only if examined with a microscope. Like Aetos said, wait for them to go down in price. The days of comparing e-peen sizes are pretty much done. Top of the line, top of the charts? Screw that, the mortgage is due and family members are hungry.

Yeah, I agree. I don't see the point of upgrading every iteration.
