Anyone watch this? Or more importantly does anyone read Forgotten Realms books?

In Stranger Things, there is the Vale of Shadows or the Upside Down as Eleven calls it. It is described as a dark echo dimension. Like a mirror image of earth but filled with decay.
I read a lot of Forgotten Realms books, and am currently on book 26 "The Last Threshold" in the Legend of Drizzt (and companions). This is part of the Neverwinter Saga of books (The town of Neverwinter in the game Neverwinter on steam)
There is a really interesting reference in Stranger Things to these books. It is probably no coincidence as the Forgotten realms is a campaign setting for Dungeons and Dragons, and the actors in the show were playing D&D in the beginning of the series.
In my book there is a place called the Shadowfell or Plane of Shadows. It is referenced as being an echo of the prime material plane (here). Essentially a parallel plane of existence. It is full of darkness, evil creatures, and necrotic energies. Portals can be opened between the Plane of Shadows and the Prime Material Plane, like the gateway to the Vale of Shadows in Stranger Things. In these past few books, there have been inhabitants of the Shadowfell, particularly the Shadovar and the Warlock Effron causing trouble on the prime material plane.

In addition, Eleven in the show practices Psionics, although Psionics is likely practiced by very few humans in the Forgotten Realms. The Aboleths and Illithids are the most powerful practitioners of Psionics, although there is a powerful Drow Psionist in the books.
