Tech Help New Parts Needed Soon

Hey All,

Macgyver here again asking the same question I asked...oh about a year ago or sooner than that.

I have been very slowly upgrading my computer but not by much. The last time was a new video card the 970 that is not great, and new fans. I don't have to worry about purchasing more fans cause I know I have a box laying around.

I want to get a new motherboard, ram, cpu, video card x2, power supply and a new case that is better with airflow. A motherboard that supports up to 64 or 128GB of RAM, a 6000 series CPU ( i7 1150 ) whichever is better for gaming, as well as duel video cards what would be good for gaming and a power supply that will support all the stuff.

I know that what I want is over excessive but I just want to have a really nice gaming rig that will last more than 3-4 years. Any suggestion will help, I know that it is going to be in the few thousand bucks but I don't mind saving for a few months to get that. So my budget is basically up there, I know that if there is no budget then the parts will cost 300 each or more. I know that the CPU is going to be up there and also the video cards, I know that ram is not that expensive anymore.

Save the money first, then we can decide on parts That's the major part here. What we suggest now might not apply in a few months at all.

I'd suggest saving up around $2500, considering what you want. If you are just gaming, that is more than adequate for many years to come

The 2TB SSD is to fit my most played games that are on steam. I have about 239 games on my steam a good amount I play and if I had the space I would put about 75% but I just don't have the space. Only 35 games out of the 239 games are installed and that is over 600GB of space. That is why I want to have that size or bigger. I don't mind saving up for a SSD that costs a few grand, warranty is key if something breaks.

I will have to look into the SLI stuff. I have never done it before or even thought about it, I just want to save for the right stuff and most of those parts will last several years. I will need some guidance on what video card to get that is good with SLI and will run games on max settings without lagging of FPS drops. The only reason I chose the 1070 Founders Addition is that they have 8GB is VRAM.

If there is any part that is better than what I have please let me know. My budget is anything really, saving is the key which I have mentioned, so ill say in the ballpark of 5k. I know that is completely over excessive which I have stated so yeah.

I'll leave it to people are more knowledgeable.

If that is going to be the case then I might go with that thanks for the suggestion. I was thinking the 1070s cause of the 8GB VRAM. I would like to have the same with the 1080s if they have 8GB VRAM.

About my case, I would like to get one that has more fans than 3, I know that there are others out there with 8 fan system. I know that more fans are more noise but by not much.

Why 2X GTX1070 if you Monitors are only 1080P ? Go 2k or 4k

Yeah, that is what I have been looking into, I forgot to mention that in my last post.

I don't want to go 4k because of how much they monitors are, I know I mentioned I do not really have a budget but I dont want to spent 600-1k on 4k monitors.

I already have a 27 inch that still works. 2k might be the way to go. I will look into that and update my build.

Actually 2k is more then 4k price wise. If you are staying with 1080 p then just get 1 GTX1080 for 2 monitors that's all you really need.

I kinda want to upgrade to 2k or 4k 27 inch monitor. To be honest I don't want to replace the 27 inch, but that does not support 2k, only 1080p.

Basically main monitor 27 inch and then one 23 inch. Having three would mess my brain won't be able to handle all monitors at 27 inches.

What would be better? keep 1080p, 2k or 4k?

It would be nice to stick with the 1070s SLI cause it costs 700 each for the 1080s, idk.

EDIT: I have decided to just stick with one video card. I don't need to get two there is no point, not unless I want more then 3 monitors. In addition I have changed a few things so I think that I am good on my parts.

I changed the RAM to 64GB, like I said if there is faster RAM let me know, Also the 27 inch monitor with two 24 inch all supporting 2k. I got rid of the 2tb ssd cause of the cost so I got two 1tb ssd for more then half of the cost of the single one. I also got rid of the case because I have the Fractal Design R5.
