Looking for recording software

I have issues when recording. I have a elgato hd60 for ps4 but now that i have a pc that can run games I decided to do pc game recordings. I was using fraps but fraps sucks way to much memory. 2 hours recording on fraps sucks up over 300 gbs for some reason and I have to use vlc to run anything recorded in fraps. I also sometimes use bandicam it does not use up memory like fraps but the sound quality is lacking for some things. I right now am using OBS but half the time the video lags in the recording and rips. I am looking for a cheap solution that runs really well and records both my mic and my friends mics while gaming.

Thanks for this thread, I will give OBS a shot as well. I am using Bandicam too for the moment, I didn't like FRAPS, and it kept giving me a black screen on playback, I suppose I should have tried using VLC to view the file. I'll have to make sure to only have the game sounds going though. During playback of my Bandicam videos it had music and Teamspeak sounds in it with the game.

There is a setting on bandicam where it won't pick up your mic I have it turned off on bandicam when I use it. OBS will only record though in windows mode or at least for me. I was recording in full screen mode and it only recorded a black screen and game sounds which really ticked me off because I got a 4 piece defibbing some people and I later found out since I was in full screen mode it did not record the screen only the sound. There may be a setting for full screen but if there was I did not see it.

I have never heard of it and I will look into it. I did hear about something Nvidia has on their card

I use ShadowPlay, which uses Nvidia GPUs to record. I also use OBS with Nvidia NVENC, which is what ShadowPlay uses. For best performance, choose ShadowPlay, for more customization, use OBS and use NVENC.

Yeah, usually with Fraps or any recording software you tend to use a lot of hard drive space if you do not change the settings. I didn't once and had a 5GB video that was only a matter of minutes.

Msi afterburner has a very decent recorder built into it.

Nvidia Geforce experience software also has a very good one if you're on an Nvidia card.

OBS )open Broadcaster Software is also free and does very well.
