If you had a time machine, would you go to the future or the past first?

Ten years in the future, then back to the present. After that I'd destroy it so nobody would ever know, nor would they ever try and get their hands on it.

I've seen too many movies about this stuff, like the effects of your actions and stuff really screws up the timeline or something. Sci-fi stuff is hard to get a grasp on sometimes but so cool to watch or hear, like in movies or on the television.

Well you would only ever be able to go back to the point when time travel was invented so going to the past is pretty pointless i would go into the future.

Id head back to 1989 and stay there. I was old enough to be out of Highschool a few years...old enough to drink.. i could work.. i had a sweet 1979 pontiac transam... music was good...my family didnt hate each other and most were alive.
