LGA 1155 socket CPU?

my friend is hooking me up with some parts for PC and the motherboard im getting from him is the Asus P8P67 Pro ATX motherboard that uses a 1155 socket. as of now im planning on getting the i5 3570 cpu. Do you guys have any recommendations or is that about as good as im gonna get at the $245(ish) pricepoint that its at?

THE ONLY THINGS ON THIS LIST NOT PROVIDED TO ME IS THE CPU AND CASE!!!!! hints why im trying to get advice on a compatible cpu in that price range for my motherboard that uses an LGA 1155 socket

Note: hes providing me with an OS key as well as a Hard drive, i know those are missing from the build. almost everything is being provided to me by him

Any reason you want to get liquid cooling? I know its efficient (I have it on my rig) but i overclock my rig. You could save almost 40 bucks by going to a nice cpu fan http://pcpartpicker.com/product/Y4fp99/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhu9bse2

As far as RAM my OCD is kicking in. I would suggest getting the same brand and the same sticks of ram. It makes me nervous when i mix brands together.

Thats all I have to comment on your list. I think you have a soild rig with some future proof items. If you have some room in the budget some nice headphones are a true cherry on top :)
 
the gskill ripjaws is great memory too i run it in my pc's
 
the only reason theres a liquid cooler in this build is because my friend has it and is giving it to me, otherwise i would definately be going with a standard cpu cooler. but i really need to know more about the CPU part of the build
 
I have that processor, worked it hard for years and it has been great. It is discontinued now though I believe. It may cost you more than finding a newer board and CPU
 
That CPU is gonna be an issue as iSimon says. You may get lucky finding some on ebay for a reasonable price, but from a store, they're rare now and will be highly priced. I'd look at getting a current or last-gen mobo and CPU so that there are decent supplies without being overpriced.
 
do you have any recommendations then on a MoBo and CPU combo that would be in that general price range that would be better? i saw it on amazon i think it was for $245
 
How about this. Give us a list of parts that you have and a budget. We can give you options.
 
If you go for a separate motherboard, try looking into AMD processors. Yes, Intel is king when it comes to processors but AMD is great when working with a budget.

If you wish to stick to intel, you may have to make the change on socket type as mentioned above. $245 will barely get you a sandy bridge i5
