I don't see any current threads talking about this topic so I figured I'd start my own one! :thumbup:

So, let me ask you all 2 questions to get the thread rolling:
1. What influenced you into becoming a car guy or gal?
2. What what car (or cars) do you drive now?

As the starter of the thread, I'll take a crack at answering the 2 questions to get the ball rolling.

So what actually got me into cars?
I'm a big (but sort of new to it all) car guy. I never was really "into" cars till I started watching Top Gear (UK not the terrible American one ) a few years back and thus started to really enjoy learning about cars. I particularly fell in love with the Porsche 911 thanks to Richard Hammond always sweat talking them. I loved the look of the cars and the capabilities of the mid-engine and awd combination.

Some months later I started watching the anime Initial-D and thus started my head-over heals love affair with the JDM street racing and car culture. As I learned more about cars, particularly Japanese sports cars and drifting, I started gravitating towards Nissan and their brand of sports cars. I quickly fell in love with the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R and the Silvia (240sx for USDM) line of cars (particularly the S14 and 180sx Type-X).

As I continued to learn more about cars from a technical aspect I started reading about the Rotary engines from Mazda and the glorious RX-7! I quickly became obsessed with the nearly perfect balance of the rotary powered RX-7 FC and FD cars and how crazy cool the RX-7 is in general.

Currently, I am trying to learn more about the SR and RB engine platforms and delve into understanding Subaru and Honda car lines better. I am also trying to purchase my own RX-7 FC or 240sx Hatchback to have fun with and pull some maaaad skids with. :thumbup1:

So what does Shadow drive right now you may ask?
Well I'm glad you asked! I currently drive a 1997 automatic Toyota Camry, one of the most boring and generic cars there are (imho). As I mentioned above though, I am trying to acquire a 240sx or RX-7 so I can have a lot more fun with my car and make it properly maaad. :biggrin:

So whats your story? What made you love cars and drive what you drive now?

I was driving a 2010 mustang GT before I moved to South Carolina about 2 months ago. Loved working on it.

I accidentally became a mechanic. That's a much longer story.

2. What what car (or cars) do you drive now?

A 98 chrysler cirrus I got for about $200. I had a work truck for a long time, 90 GM Sierra with a plow

I have been into cars since I was 16 years old, but I got into the 3000GT's since 2001. This is one of 3 of these cars I have owned.

I've loved muscle cars since I was kid, my first non-beater car I bought was an '09 mustang. I sunk some money into building it up and then the '11s came out with +100hp stock. Now I suffer from wanting to buy/do a lot but have a lack of expendable income to throw at cars/parts lol...

Volkswagen Jetta 2014, not really my car at the moment but I drive it when I have to

I became a car guy because my dad and grandfather are both huge car gurus. My grandfather built a '47 chevy 3/4 ton pickup from the ground up and my dad owned various cars from a 69 mustang to a Honda prelude, to a Celica, to his Cadillac XLR he owns today. I love reading about the engineering behind these rides and how far the automotive industry has come.

Currently I own a 2004 BMW M3. Alpine white on cinnamon brown leather interior, fully loaded, carbon fiber trim and front lip. I have a carbon fiber hood and diffuser on the way with a set of OEM CSL rims. Other than that I plan on keeping this stock for a while.

I have cash for a BMW M6. Looking at 2008-2010 models with SMG, alpine white on Indianapolis red extended merino leather interior. I'm looking at the cabrio as I absolutely love convertibles, but I already have a 'vert so I'm thinking this one will be a coupe.

Lastly, after I finalize a home purchase, if the budget allows, I'll be looking for a sedan/SUV for daily driving and winter use. I've been looking at the F10 BMW 550i M Sport with the 4.4 liter twin turbo V8. Great power, great gas mileage, modern looks and comfortable ride. Great for driving friends/coworkers around in as they are tired of the tiny back seats in my M3 haha.

What influenced me to get into cars you ask ? Well... It all started when The Fast and the Furious came out in 2001. Just kidding. My brother was always into cars and I thought "Hey ! That car looks cool !" His first car was a 3000gt and then later after that he bought a 2004 corvette Z06. He now owns a 1997 Limited Edition Toyota Supra.

What Car do I drive ? Well let me show you

I am currently driving this beast, 2006 Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR currently running almost 500HP

What got me interested in cars? Well I would say a mixture of my friend growing up, whose dad was a mechanic, had a chevelle with nitrous, and a couple of modified/lifted trucks. I'd go to demo derbies, truck pulls, etc. From there, a mixture of Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, and The Fast and Furious fueled my interest.

My current car is a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX in Satin White Pearl. I love the uniqueness that Subaru offers in their vehicles, and the boxer rumble.... too bad the new ones are a little different sounding.

What got me into being a car guy honestly was the first Fast and the Furious movie and Need for Speed lol.

I currently drive an 09 Corolla. It's a manual and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Getting my first car, a 2013 scion FRS is what got me into cars. Both of my brothers were always into cars and I was the last one to do so.

I run now the local car club for the FRS/BRZ in the area. The above pic is from my first autocross hosted by the local Porsche Club which was a ton of fun. There was 3 GT3s and a GT4 and a couple of 911s

We all met up last summer for some fun

The local car culture in Cleveland is amazing. We had almost $20 million in exotic cars at our local cars and coffee. I didn't get them all but here are most of the notable cars (P1 and 3 Porsche 918 Spyders!!!! )

I am currently looking at getting a 2014 Cayman S next year. I did test drive a Lotus Elise and was happy to find that I could actually fit in one being that I am 74 inches tall. Not sure if I want to do one of those and a daily driver when I could just buy the Cayman...
