Tech Help parts upgrade

Hey All.

I have been saving up for upgrading my computer. I know that I don't really need it once I mention the parts that I currently have.

Parts Now:

Now seeing as all these parts are with the motherboard I added the CPU cooler and RAM.
There are the upgraded parts that I want that I want to see that are good for eachother.
I know that I don't need the upgrade but I would like it as my parts are over 2 years old.

I need some help on a CPU cooler, liquid cooling or a good fan one that is quite.
RAM: I also need some help with that as well that will be good with the mobo. 64GB is what I would like as that board supports that :)

I also want to find a good case that is wall mountable, like this one (I am not going to mount it right away but the open space is good for cooling):

I got this cooler, loved it so far. I didn't want to use up a ton of space doing liquid cooling and have been very pleased by the results of the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler. It's not extremely loud either.

Do you NEED 64GB of RAM? That's pretty extreme. I do some hefty video editing and only have 16GB for that. However, if you want to spend the money the price point is not too bad for some G.Skill Ripjaw, good quality stuff and reputable brand name of course. You'll want 4x 16GB sticks

I think that I am going to get either the fan one or most likely the liquid cooling one whichever one I choose to get.

Yeah I know that is excessive but I don't mind spending the money for 64GB of RAM, I just don't want to buy more later on, max out everything other than over clocking everything that can be overclocked.

The one thing I forgot to mention is a video card, I will have to save up for a few more months to get that, right now I am using a 970 and its not that great cause of the RAM issue.

If you do want to get into liquid, the corsair closed loop units are really good.

Were you planning to overclock? Sounds like you won't need to haha, unless you are into that sort of thing
 
With Simon on this one. 64 is way overkill for most people. Unless you are doing tons of image and video editing (talking loads of layers here). For gaming 16 is way more then enough for any game now or in the future.

Cooling wise I've never been a huge fan of the all in ones. Just too many negatives to outweigh the positives to recommend them, unless you have some major space restrictions.

Throw a D14 if you can fit one (Hands down one of the best coolers you can get noise/temp wise) or if space is a bit of a problem try a U14. Noctura has and always will make some of the best and damn ugliest colour coolers on the market.

Chocolate nailed it there, for fans Noctua can't be beat, awesome products.
 
What I am curious about that neither of those guys have asked is what kinda video card do you have? The reason I ask is because maybe you could push back on the i7 & maybe either upgrade your video card or maybe even set aside $$ towards an ssd in the future. Got my current 250gb ssd during black friday last year. I also agree that 64gb is definitely overkill as I use 16 & thats plenty for me.
 
I have a 970 which is not great because of the RAM issue. I need to save up for one of the high end 10 series video cards and I completely forgot to add that to my budget,

Will it be a problem if I upgrade everything else but the video card. For a few weeks I mean. I won't be getting anything for at least a month so I think I will be fine to get the crazy amount of stuff that is overkill.

liquid cooling I have already and its just an old one and I need to upgrade. With the case that I am aiming for I won't have a space issue and the one that iSimon mentioned will probably work. I just need to research more. I should have an update post in a week or so about the parts that I want to get.

Definitely give us an update on what you decide before you go ahead and do it!

@Pillar he seemed to want to wait for the video card so I figured addressing the questions there would be better for now :)

An SSD would be pretty awesome if you don't have one already, and are extremely affordable now. Do you have one? I highly recommend that Samsung 850 series. Dropped one into my MacBook and the performance is phenomenal. I've had my Samsung 840 for 3+ years now without a hiccup or drop in performance. A 250GB SSD from Samsung can run around $140 (Canadian) right now on Amazon so highly suggest adding that to your upgrade list
 
I have two SSDs right now, I don't think that I need another one lol
128GB with my OS
512GB (Samsung 850 series) with my most used steam games.

I think that I will go with a liquid cooling system since I have one already and the i7 6700k, I don't think that I am going to overclock it even with the liquid cooling, if I get enough people to assure me that overclocking won't ruin my CPU with the liquid cooling I might go ahead and do it, but I have never tried it before.

Also I will do the wall mounted case that has a lot of open space. I just need fans that are quiet because right now my fans in my computer are loud.

The reason I want the max amount of RAM is just to have it. I don't want to have 16GB and know my mobo can handle a whole lot more so that is why I am saying 64GB is the max that the mobo that I found. If there is a mobo that is better please let me know.

I don't know what video card to get the 1080 is a lot of money, I am willing to save up for it so yeah.

I don't think that's a gurantee anyone will ever make sadly. Overclocking at all you immediately run the risk of running a processor outside of what the manufacturer designed it as. So there's always a risk, as well as killing any warranty you may have. Yours is MORE than fast enough to handle anything so I doubt overclocking will ever be necessary outside of testing and fun (after a lot of research too)
 
Got it well then I don't think that I will do that at all. the 6700k is fast enough for what I am doing right now. So I will not overclock at all once I get what I want, not necessarily need lol

All that I need to save up for is a video card. :)
 
Is there an i7 that is more powerful than the 6700K without it being $1,000 or even $500. I have the 4770K, I know that it can preform well for the next few years but I think that I need an upgrade regardless I just want to stay up-to-date with the latest stuff seeing as my parts are 2-3 years old.
