New router

So for whatever reason, last night the router started to mess up. Oddly enough, this router actually has a power button (could never understand it when I first saw it either). The power button doesnt want to stay in (for whatever reason). Anyways, this is the current one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320115

So the sad thing is that the router is still under warranty, but dunno where the actual box is to find out where it actually came from. Next thing I know, my mom says "just get a new 1". Im cool with that. So now im in the market for another router. I have my eyes on this router: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320115

If you have a better idea, let me know. I am going to stay around the same price range as when we got the original router (more than likely nothing over $150). As soon as I get official word on the max price, then I will post a reply.

After going through a few Cisco/Belkin routers, I gave TP-Link a shot after doing a lot of research. The Archer C7 has been at our place for about 2 years now. Easy setup, 0 downtime, no speed issues. Been very happy with it.

They have a model up from that one as well that comes highly recommended, if you need something more demanding

That is really one of the best routers you can get on the market. I recommend that one or the non AC one N66 all the time depending on needs. Easy interface and great two year warranty when you don't lose the box

Would really recommend just grabbing another one, or contacting Asus to see if they can help you RMA it.

So since my mom told me that there was no budget concerns, I decided to go with the Netgear Nighthawk, even tho I am disappointed with the fact that they only offer a 1 year warranty. Apparently Newegg has a Netgear expert available to talk, so I told him bout the warranty issue i noticed & told him to relay that to future products. Theres no reason why a customer spending over $200 shouldnt get more than 1 year warranty with their router. Hell the previous ASUS router that we current have comes with 2 years & it cost half the damn price!
