My video card died

I was playing TF2 and the computer made a loud noise, the screen froze, and it turned off. I did some troubleshooting and found that my graphics card has gone kaput. :thumbdown:

If you still have a warranty on it, you might want to look into that if you haven't already.. or just say 'flub it' and upgrade like Simon suggested!

Sounds like an AMD or an older Nvidia card has happened to me with both brands, though my 970s have been super reliable the past couple of years. I don't know what card you have, but if you're in the market definitely check them out. They're a steal now that the 10 series is out, great if you're on a budget. I own 4; two in my desktop and two in my laptop

Generally, if you can afford to get one single powerful card get that instead two mid range cards. Not many games are really optimized for sli. Techquckie posted video on vessel about this subject. Its should be on YouTube next week. I would suggest you watch as it gives you good explainantion.

The card was an ASUS ENGTX560; I got it at least a year ago, maybe two. I think it might still be under warranty... I usually keep boxes and receipts for a few years, but I've been looking around for the box for it and haven't found it yet.

I'd love to upgrade, or even build a completely new computer, since mine was built maybe 7-8 years ago and while it still runs perfectly fine, there are way better components out there now. Unfortunately, I have no job and less than $50 in savings. =P I'm looking for a job, though.

Turns out I got the card in 2011, so the 2-year warranty is definitely expired. It sure doesn't feel like I've had it that long, though...

It's been over a month now... I'm getting SEVERELY PC-deprived!! I've been subsisting on old emulated games and other stuff, but I really miss playing TF2, Dota 2, Path of Exile, etc. etc.

Huh, I didn't even think of that. I was planning on borrowing some money from my brother to buy one on Cyber Monday, but I'll check Craigslist first, I might get lucky.
