Was going to post this last night, but was too backed up with work after a quick 2 rounds on BF1. If you are on Teamspeak, stop using the word "******". I had to tell someone in there last week to stop with using the word, not sure who it was, but they stopped after I said something. It was said again last night. It's getting a tad out of hand and it shouldn't be used. We are better than this.

When I am in TS idling there are various other words in peoples vocabulary's that need to be REDUCED IMMEDIATELY. It only takes another member from another division/public user to come in and be offended or upset if they hear specific taboo and cause issues in the BF Division. I am completely with Tuna on this one.

Thanks for this post. I think words like these are unacceptable and it makes it a bit cringey to hang out in rooms where that is the norm. Thank you!

An issue regarding this same topic was brought up very recently through the NME program. It is being forward to the leadership team to look into as it made a new member feel very uncomfortable,so much so that they are looking at leaving EGO entirely.

I know we all like to cut up on TeamSpeak and have a good time, but I agree with LBr and Tuna. We need to keep a level of professionalism at all times.

Not going to mention that homophobic slurs are against our Code of Conduct, oh wait..damn it I did mention it.....oh well....:P

Need to watch overall language use in TS. I know we can now use profanity, but in moderation. Everything thing that is said does not need to be turn into a sexual innuendo. Everybody that kills you in not hacking. The BF world is not a vast conspiracy with internet providers, gaming servers, and your computer out to get you, some times you just get lag.

this and other words is why i stopped coming into teamspeak unless im playing metro. i used to just hang out but now i dont

As an adviser I have no problem with ANY member either a freaking fng two days in or an eGO asking for the chat to be reigned in, if it is offends to you. Just be polite in asking, should this not work, by all means come and get one of us in leadership.

This is one of the main reasons my wife said she would never join eGO. I was in Teamspeak one day idling, she put on my headset and she counted the word used 12 times in the 5 minutes she was listening.

Pass it along to all admins and members that disrespect and racist wording including what was said above will not be tolerated in TS or servers. We try our best to keep them family friendly along with adult friendly. Please remind everyone to not use such language in TS and servers. Please also give members options for TS that if someone is being disruptive that they can report it to leadership or that members can also mute others or use other gaming channels

I'm a bit confused, hasn't Battlefield always allowed moderate swearing from non-members, prior to new policy? Also, if people are being excessive or inappropriate the Code of Conduct has a few things listed on it that would give you admins the tools to w/k/b.

This is honestly being made bigger than it really should, use the CoC, if it's a particular member then I hear Dropbox is a good place to go and report people. Below is CoC for reference once again.

Code of Conduct
EdgeGamers Public Rules (Forum & Server) – Last edited by USCG Hammer on Aug 18, 2016

-No disrespect tolerated. This includes excessive swearing and the use of any racist, sexist or homophobic term.
-All names, sprays and avatar icons must be PG-13 rated.
-No drug references in names, chat or sprays
-No cheating, cheat scripts, barrier jumping, map exploits or hacks of any kind.
-No server disruption, including: griefing, mic/chat spamming, trolling or intentionally interfering with teammates.
-No advertising in servers.
-No names, chat or sprays that advocate or oppose a political stance, terrorism or religion.
-No website URLs in names, sprays or avatars.
-No impersonating admins.
-No arguing with, or pestering admins in-server.
-Admins have final say in server.

I'm just posting this because it's helped me with my admining decisions in the old and new era and i've been active in the past in almost every division.

This is the reason I choose to leave, as a female gamer, I dont enjoy listening to the swearing, or the sexual inuendos, and most importantly how losely some discriminatory terms are used, and its okay, because people did not mean it.

For example, example there was one day, I was trying to get an admin, to help on lockers, took so long, that I had some people on lockers, saying, that its okay to rape females, and that I wanted to be raped, I would like to know how that is family orientated, because the last time I checked it was agaisnt the law to even threaten a person that your going to rape them.

I did manage to find someone, but that is the reason I left. I wasnt planning on saying anything, but I feel it needs to be said.

I will put this out there, I have been raped in the past, and even the tought of someone saying to me they think I should be raped, is a threat, and I dont take that very likely.

That is the type of gamers you have on your servers, which isnot very FEMALE friendly,

I know this i probly in the wrong spot, but right now, For me it needs to be said, and made known, because right now its just words, but do we realy know they non ego members well enouh to know they would not actually rape someone bcause they asked for the swearing, and cutting up of each other to stop. :facewall:

This has very little to do with the topic at hand... this thread is addressing members using excessive and unnecessary language in Teamspeak, not in game. What you described was a situation where people in game with (I assume) no association with our community were breaking our rules. I don't know the full details of the situation, but I'm sure our admins were not just letting this happen.

actually it has a lot to do with it, because would it of been aloud to go on for 10 min, because me and another member were trying to get an admin to help us out, but it does have a lot to do with language in ts, because when people who are not eGo members, or ds, hop on and hear that language it tells them its okay to do in game, thats what my point was, grantedit did not happen in ts, but as I was on ts at the time and had a hard time getting it dealt with.

If we allow ******, **** you, this guy is cheating all the ****ing time, why not hope in the ts and sit quitely like I had for about 2-3 days youd be surpized at what type of language is used, and what times, if language on ts can not me controlled, how do you exepct non ego to follow the rules, when most community members, are them selve saying this stuff.

Do we really need to swear while gaming no, thats what immature people do, when they are unable to vocalize what is upsetting them.

My main point if the language is not what you would use in a convowith a person face to face, they is no need to be like that over the interent.

your right wasnt in our community, but they are reguars on the lockers, ( I often sit and wach leaderboards) that what my autism does, I but the main point, even if the regualars can not uphold and follow the rules, what makes the ego members follow them?

Hello Gimpy,

We are sorry to hear about your troubles with the language. We do not allow disrespect, racism, or lewd comments towards members or in our servers or ts. We do allow swearing as long as it is not directed at others or not too excessive. We get complaints of hacking all the time as many are admins and we have deal with those situations. We do not though want players to keep complaining in ts about it or in servers about it causing disruption and that was addressed with the leadership and members. As for your personal situations we may not know and sorry to hear of them that you have had. As others have said public members end up saying many different things that have to be dealt with. Sometimes admins arent always available in game or ts depending on the time. When in game type /ad and a message following ex /ad reporting xxxx for inappropriate language and any admins online in game will see that. If you do not get a response then try to find an admin in TS. If no admin then please feel free to use the drop box and or the ban request so we can handle that situation which is not appropriate for our servers. We do our best at keeping it family and every gamer friendly and we also keep it at an adult level as such the game we play. If you still have concerns please find any BF leaders to help resolve the issue and talk about these things.

That language is 100% not acceptable. Using that language in TS is no different than if you were using it in server. I fully expect our admins / leadership to demote and remove anyone caught dropping racial expletives in any facet of EGO.

Gimpy, I apologize this language that it totally against our policy. I would hope that you would be so kind as to give this community another chance. My statement above is not a threat, but a promise. I dont care what rank we may be, dropping racial expletives will get you removed from this community!

I'm going to bump this up again and highlight a few things. Go ahead and consider me an asshole after this post, but, if you feel the need to joke about anal sex and continue to use the word ******, then perhaps you should find another community to hang out in. I'm not trying to be a first amendment warrior, I'm just sick of the talk. I've thick skin, most of this talk does not offend me, but we do have an influx of new members joining up. Personally, my initial impressions of a community wouldn't be too high if I joined a TS channel and this type of talk was happening.

I am not going to associate myself with a community that cannot honor the rules set forth to not make any sexually derogatory statements. I'm tired of hitting one person up, only to have it surface again from the same person. I don't care your history, your age, or your mentality. I'm also not going to use the dropbox on this to report an individual, or a group, because basic human decency needs to be applied to interact with people on TS. This goes for everyone.

There are also people in this thread that are agreeing with me on this. We are getting a little too rambunctious with the sex and politics talk. Swearing aside, if you cannot conduct yourself with a shred of decency in that channel, then perhaps Teamspeak is not for you. If you feel that I'm talking about you as you read this, then yeah, I probably am.

For god sakes, k/tty was in the channel last night, heard some, if not all of this talk, and she's only 16. Is it worth a couple laughs to subject your character like that in front of a minor? I honestly don't think its worth subjecting the Battlefield division like that. You are not going to give my division a bad name because you want to get a few chuckles in the room with a sexually degrading statement.

If I have the ability to, I'll start just outright banning those of any rank that consistently violate the rules, let you contest on the site here about how you just couldn't control your tongue. As far as I'm concerned, your warning was when you applied and were accepted into this community.

If you hear members conducting such talk or issues kick or ban from TS and let us know. Leadership cant be in the channels 24/7 member sitting. As tuna said come on people lets be a little more decent in ourselves in TS remember there are kids and families in playing too. Sexual talk and political chat has to stop. Derogatory words and anything offensive has to stop. We have already talked to some individuals about their conduct and will take action for those causing problems

You have the ability to ban people and you have my blessing to do that. Especially for those who keep braking our rules. If they cant behave and follow a simple rule they need to find a new place.

will catch who's doing it

Will Keep an Eye and Ear out for this word being used.
