window vs full screen

I was just wondering what the general concensus was for most of my EGO brethren on this. do you run TF2 (or other steam game) FULL SCREEN or in a window? Also, what res are you running it compared to Windows??

I'm thinking of trying it but afraid I'll jack something up and never be able to load up tf2 again... I currently have a 8600gt for a gfx card and it's OK.. but I wonder if it would CHOKE hard by running tf2 in a windows...

It'll be fine, ive used window mode a few times before. I dislike it because i have a widescreen on my laptop and it doesnt fill up enough of my screen... =/
 
I'm on a 7600 running TF2 in windowed mode at 70 FPS on 1024x768, highest quality, full everything. I think your 8600 can pull it off in a window.

Honestly, I didn't notice a drop in FPS from full screen, and it just makes it easier to alt-tab. You can get rid of the annoying blue bar at the top by creatively dragging it off screen while on a menu.
 
I have an 8800 Developer Board and I timed the minimize/reload time in windowed mode and full screen mode and full screen won every time by quite a margin. The FPS was pretty similar for me, so no real contrast there. I personally like full screen anyways b/c I want my gaming experience to be like a live-action movie :).
 
No matter how much you bork the settings in game, you can always reset them from the launch options or the cfg file.

Played last night... it played fine... a tiny hiccup here and there.. but by and large very playble. Should allow me to start using Vent or other stuff while I'm liting up the servers =)
