Christmas Decorating

What is everyone's thoughts on decorating and what time it should be done. My girlfriend has decided she wants to start putting things up as of yesterday, and I can't stand it. I told her she can't put up the tree until after Thanksgiving, so what are y'alls thoughts on early decorating?

I don't mind putting up Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving. If you have time for it, might as well get it out of the way right? I'll probably set mine up next weekend.

Typically we put lights up on the gutters, but since we just recently got new gutters with a grating on them I'm not certain how it'd work now. Past that there's rarely a tree even at my place anymore, lest it's the artificial one in storage. Kittens might enjoy it though as they seem to love napping on the tree skirt they found.

We don't really decorate until after Thanksgiving, but my friend's family already started last week. I hate putting away decorations so I don't really like putting them up.

Ditto which is why I like to keep the lights hanging year round
