Wireless or Hot Wired?

I NEED a new mouse and/or keyboard...both are wireless right now just regular mouse and keyboard, nuttin fancy...well the keyboard isint all that bad but the mouse is a BATTERY JUICE HOG! seriously every 2 wks is the battery life span and there is now way to turn the mouse off...anyway i am wanting to get a new one but yet a cheap one so should i get Wireless or Wired? ty in advanced guys!
 
Take out the batteries to turn it off
Wired for the win, i have a generic keyboard and logitech gaming mouse thats older than my comp and because theyre wired i never have to buy batteries so saves me money
 
Wireless is terrible. I don't understand the obsession with it. If you don't have a 40 inch plasma hooked up to your machine, there is no reason why you'd need to be across the room.

Interference and power loss are the bane of wireless gamers.

Stay wired. Wired mouse. Wired keyboard. Wired network.
 
i can agree w/ mouse and keyboard but the ntwk...no....there is no interference and the laptop just doesnt reach from my room to every other room in the house...but wait...it has to be wireless because it doesnt support ethernet...it was built for dial up so i had to get a Wireless Ntwk Card...:(
 
definetly stay wired with your internet... the only thing you are giving up is the mobility without wired
 
desktop is hard laptop isint becuz i have no choice...anyway so i should get a wired mouse eh?
 
yes, go wired with everything. how much are you willing to spend? because i know of 2 different mice (and there are soooo many more) but the 2 i know come personally.
 
I run a wireless MX1000 mouse and a Saitek II keyboard (wired). The mouse has a lithium-ion battery that just charges when on the cradle, and it works great. The only down side is I do notice a little lag with it when sniping. I actual wire part of wired mice drives me crazy when gaming. I always end up with too much or not enough slack in it and get upset, maybe I'm just weird. I've played with the G5 and that is a great wired option if that's the sort of thing you like. I couldn't recommend the Saitek II keyboard enough. Looks nice, plays nice, and is quite enough to keep the g/f happy.
 
Hey dude, good luck finding a really good keyboard & mouse for $25. I have the same keyboard as Ryken & it has yet to fail me. Also I have an old Logitech Optical mouse from over 5 yrs ago that I still have as a backup (Logitech pwns when it comes to wired mice). Also my mom has personal experience with a wireless mouse. She purchased one & was having trouble with it (of course it was Logitech). I so agree with Lafi on this one. I seriously wouldnt go with any kind of wireless input devices (unless its network based).
 
Going to be honest, Woot.com throws up great deals once in a blue moon on some really nice mice. The best thing that I can say is if you are really serious about gaming I would go with the laser mice, especially the logitech's, razor's and even some of the microsoft mice. However, optical mice are just as efficient and I have never run into a problem. I would check newegg.com for decent prices on good hardware. Again for mice, you need to pay attention to DPI, if you can change it, and the comfortableness (think hand size to mouse size).
 
Trackballs can be very bad for the hands, but they are nice. I had a wireless Logitech mouse, and it was fine, but I got tired of changint the batteries. So, my next purchase was a wired mouse and I've never looked back. As mentioned above, if you want to spend as much as you would on a wireless optical, then choose a nice wired laser mouse.

You're using the wrong trackball then. Kensington Expert, large full hand centered ball. My hands have never been better, sure beats gripping a normal mouse.
 
I also have the MX1000 and eventhough it's older than the MX Revolution I can'd stand the Revolution for gaming b/c for whatever reason I can't get the sensitivity low enough to really be precise but I can be overly precise with the MX1000...pretty good at sniping on DoD:S, not so much with the MX R which actually lags pretty bad in game.

Anyways, I haven't seen a huge difference between using a wired and wireless mouse but I absolutely love my MX1000 and am saddened that the Li-ion is starting to hold its charge less and less. I also have a Razer Tarantula wire keyboard and its amazing. I think overall you definitely want a wired keyboard for gaming but depending on the mouse you may or may not have issues with a wireless one.
 
one more quick ? how can ppl use those trackball mice? i mean seriously i just cant see how
 
I've been using one since January or so. Only took a few weeks before it was second nature. I get much smoother and fluid motion from it than I ever did from my standard mice. And I don't have to lift my mouse up to keep turning when a pyro is trying to circle strafe me.

I make much smoother lines in photoshop too.
