What is the definition of Prop Surfing?

I was kicked by =(eG)= Ryo5678 from ttt_lila_panic_v1 for supposedly Prop Surfing. I moved a prop over to a rail so that I could climb on it to get to the roof. The roof has a weapon and is a permitted place. I thought prop surfing was when you are making the prop hover and gain altitude by holding the prop while jumping. I did not do that. I simply was climbing on a prop after I set it down. How is that even remotely prop SURFING?

Using props in any way shape or form to get up to an area, or using them to hover is not allowed and considered prop surfing/glitching. While i admit that it is a viable spot to get onto on lila_panic, there are other means of getting up there (jumping on the hotel sign and surfing up), so using other means such as that shouldnt be allowed.

To be honest, its always a gray area. Me, personally, normally wouldnt care about something so trivial, especially since its so common on the zm version of it, but according to the rules, it is not allowed

Yo chill bro. this isnt a ban contest. He is asking a simple question and wanting to get more information, not denying the fact of what happened or anything.

I also did not see the supposed warnings, because they may not have been addressed to me specifically and because I did not realize that climbing on a prop was considered "surfing." Since I was not surfing, I thought any surf warnings were meant for others. I think better terminology needs to be used, because climbing is not equivalent to surfing. It would also be nice if map-specific rules were posted to avoid them being merely hear-say and only enforced by certain admins who happen to know about them.

To be fair, when I was an E and an Admin I have never seen anyone be kicked for laying a prop down to get up to the roof on that map. But at the same time, you can grab the AWP and Zeus up there without using a prop.

With the way it is right now, there is definitely some clarification i believe that needs to be done, and I understand your frustration. But if you have issues, using the dropbox is the best way to communicate straight to leadership, not posting it on here.

The proper terminology here isnt "surfing" but "glitching". It is using a prop for its unintended purpose and using it to a person's advantage. while i understand it is being used to get to an area that is not considered an exploit, there are other means of getting up there that can otherwise be used.

Fist pretty much summed it up. While you may not have been surfing, you were prop glitching. Fist gave a great example as well. If you have to enlist the aid of props to reach an area, even one that is obtainable through normal means, that is still consider prop glitching. It does provide an unfair advantage and will be admined as such. Hope that clears everything up. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to make a dropbox post.
