Why use a shotgun, when you can use a rocket gun?

I did enjoy the rocket gun when I was playing the beta and trial

They both are fun, while the rocket is slightly cooler. And the shotgun is quicker. 5 round clips, faster reloads. Much better close range. So why not use both?
