Just read this article on Shacknews and wanted to strangle Jack Thompson, even though I've not yet played on the "murder simulator" he so ardently decries.

Jack is irrelevant, he's been banned from directly bringing cases to the Florida court system now he has to find someone that will bring the cases foreward in his name, most people wouldn't stake their careers on that.
Sometimes I really wonder how that man even became a lawyer... He really doesn't seem all that healthy in the head. I really hate how video games are the scapegoats anytime something goes wrong with kids and they snap and lapse into a violent way. Nevermind the terrible environment and familial situation most of these troubled youths had... Oh no, they played GTA, Doom, and Counter-Strike, those have to be the problem, not the poor parenting or completely messed up lives they lived. Never mind the large quantity of (fairly more so anyway) normal people that play these games kind of games on a daily basis...

Video games aren't bad. Society made them bad. "OMG! Does that game has a drop of blood in it?! I'm taking you to the police station before you have a violent reaction! I'm also turning this game into the Supreme Court! Surely they can do something about it!" I hate it that people can't just back off, and leave people to what they like to do.

This reminded me that there was a study to prove violent video games do not in fact lead to violent lives. Kids play rated M games from like age 13 and below *cough*half the clan*cough*

Pretty much anytime Jackie Boy writes a letter or makes a statement it sounds like something The Onion would come up with.
On my English HSA's I had a essay question that basically asked about whether or not we should ban video games. I wrote a 3 page response, then realized I had 5 minutes left for 20 multiple choice questions.

It's ironic that he doesn't see anything wrong with children watching professional wrestling (simulating moves that people without requisite physique and safety training/preparation could very easily die from) but has a problem with games that don't even show you how to load a round into the chamber of a firearm. If the average person was even capable of what CJ (main character from GTA:III) is, we'd be living in the freaking DC universe with Superman.

Very true Peterman. When I first used a handgun the operation (loading/unloading and priming it) was almost the complete opposite of the way I understood it from games/movies. It just so happens that at this time games are the scapegoat fro juvenille deliquents. Before it was Rock 'n Roll beore that Alcohol before that who knows I can't remember. Remember when everyone thought science was evil? LOL!!!!

I'm going to go get GTA4 when it releases, and I'm thinking about buying a PS3 with it. I'm going to brutally murder every single beautifully pixelated biped in that game. In between killing sprees I might play with one of my two adopted kittens or I might cuddle with my fiancee (who I plan to marry in a year). You will notice the lack of "slaughtering police officers" in my daily plans.
As gamers, we all know that this guy is full of it. Violent games will continue to be produced, the world will continue to spin, and we will continue to get outright pissed at idiots like Jack Thompson. Just try to ignore him and enjoy the games which make his blood boil. :-D That's my satisfaction, right there.
