grrr y don't my gif work

ok i made a very short low quality first attempt at an animation on PS i did the animation part opening that animation thing then selection all of the different layer as different frames but when i save it as a gif i only shows the last screen in the preview how do i get it to play through? (im using cs3)

Are you doing 'save for web' or 'save as'?

You should be using the former. There is a play button on the right panel that lets you play through the animation to see how it looks as you edit your saving options. If the animation controls are greyed out, you've done something wrong- either in the creation of the animation or you have the wrong format selected.

i tried save for web but it was just white with some black. i was confused

Ok, I've got no idea how to help you. I've never encountered any trouble creating GIF animations through photoshop.

Maybe try saving it to a GIF from Imageready? I was in the same boat years ago, and I recall that being the only way to save the GIF with the animation intact.

Btw, I wouldn't get too fond of GIF's... technically, they are unsupportable due to patent lawsuits, you seldom see them used anymore (either PNG or flash nowadays), and eventually support for it will die off altogether. Forum avatars/sigs are about the only use nowadays (as annoying as they are...).
