So Jeff Kaplan (Game Director) made quite a few posts today on the Blizzard forums about a wide variety of topics which I think everyone will find interesting, especially regarding upcoming features:

Regarding Reporting/Toxic players/Comp leavers:

"We appreciate this feedback and we want to continue to be aggressive against people leaving in competitive play. We won't, however, use Skill Rating deductions as a penalty. The last thing people want is a highly skilled player ending up in Bronze and being matched against people much lower skill than they are. Also, if we allow a highly skilled penalized player to end up in Bronze and then continue to match them against other highly skilled players, people will perceive our matchmaking systems to be broken.

Ultimately, we want to remove frequent leavers from competitive play altogether. We just don't want them playing games there."

"It's good to hear discussion around this topic and we're just as concerned about it as you guys are.

Our first step is reviewing our current reporting system. This is well underway and we have some changes to the design that we think will help. Once we can update the reporting design, we are also going to internally review all of our policies, including punishments.

I wish this was moving faster but at least it is making active progress."

| Any plans on taking report functionality away from players that abuse it regular basis ? i'm sure you heard about tobjorn that climbed to master had 12 bans and all overturned by now.

It's cases like this that we're taking into consideration."

Emotes

"Being able to have multiple emotes equipped is being worked on right now, so hopefully that will go live early next year. No plans to cancel or interrupt emotes. This goes against our design philosophy for the feature."

Replays/Highlight sharing

"Replays: This is a feature we very much want as well. It's a very challenging and large feature from a development standpoint. We've done a lot of the groundwork to help make this happen. We're really hoping to get it in someday, work is being done, but it's not on the immediate horizon."

"Saving and/or exporting highlights is also on our list. We consider this a completely different feature from the Replay request above. This one is also actively being worked on. Highlight sharing/saving/exporting (whatever exact form it takes) will come before Replays."

Competitive Rewards

"At some point we would like to add some more rewards to the system. Kind of a weird comment but I'll put it out there: we don't want to over-reward players for playing Comp. We don't want to put so many amazing rewards to the system that it attracts players to Comp who wouldn't normally be playing there."

That's one of the puzzling things I've pondered for a while now. They've got the option to have a random PotG clip and a random win pose, but not emotes? Also quite happy to hear they're working on exporting replays so those of us who don't have systems that can use shadowplay or something similar can get our "ZOMG AWESOME" PotGs seen by others.

I just hope that they don't make it automatically save all of the replays/highlights like they forced it to do with Heroes of the Storm & Starcraft 2..it's an easy fix to just delete them, sure, but still a bit of a nuisance.

Agreed.

I'm guessing you've tried Overwolf, or no? That's what I've been using and it's been working fine, aside from maybe 2-3 videos that I've recorded with fraps sometime ago due to a sound-glitch I had, but doesn't seem to happen anymore (They've been putting out updates/bugfix-patches monthly or every other month)

Replays would be super cool, although I do like the highlights system that is in place so far for grabbing quick videos when I don't have any recording going. I unfortunately don't use shadowplay as I had some performance issues with their replay system.

I certainly agree with their comp ideas. While I don't play competitively, I'm glad they are supporting their growing comp base and trying to make matches as enjoyable as possible for players.

Actually I've got Overwolf on my system for using with Hearthstone (Arena card calculator, lul), but I've never thought of using it for that. I'll dink around with it later tonight and see what comes up.

The app I particularly use is the Video Recorder..thought of ReplayHUD but looks like it still has a few bugs here/there, and not sure if it's integration is supported while playing OW.

I use LoiLo. It's free, and works great. I like being able to have a hot key bound to start recording.

Overwolf's Video Recorder has this also (and is free)..but eh, to each his own :P

LoiLo was the first one I found. I might try Overwolf. I have noticed that LoiLo will crash battlenet... and if you happen just to have the program opened, not even recording, it will cause your FPS in LoL to drop to about 5. I'm not sure if it's something with my setup, or the program its self.
