I had the honor to witness spitfires shooting down German fighters and their bombers, we truly thanked the pilots for their bravery, the cheers from our neighbors was deafening. The Brit's stood out doors watching even through a raid was on, it was like as if to give the RAF guys encouragement. But looking around the world to day I wonder would it have been better if Hitler had won???

tail gunner

my uncle was a tail gunner in the lancasters stationed in england was with the nzaf over there he survived the war he died in 1960 ,my memory of him when we visited was a man in a very dark place his nerves were shot ,his eyes never stopped moving he was a young man when he went over he was i think he was 43 when he passed but he looked like 60 ,ive been in service myself but could never amagine the feeling being in the air fighting the way these guys did ,theres a spitfire on a stand at chrischurch airport shit there pretty small
