Does that program work on CSGO now? The seeding thing we had for CSS or do you legit just leave your game open?

We used to have a tool, but I think it broke in a valve update and hasn't been updated in a long time. I leave the full game open and minimize it, doesn't use many resources even when I do video editing all day.

Jail, not sure. Though I do remember when we opened the Dust2 server myself and a few others took part in a contest for who could stay in the server the longest. Think it was 7+ days for all 3 of us.

Yeah Valve released an update that made it so you can't run the game in textmode and join a server. People were using it to mine drops and it was causing economy fluxes in TF2. I'm not sure if they moved it to the other games as well, but it'd be worth looking into.
