Hi All! I felt like sharing, so that's what I'm doing.
As some of you might know, I'm a firefighter, working in DEMA (Danish Emergency Management Agency), and have been so fro just about 5 months.
The past 5 months haven't been very eventful, regarding my work, where I live. Not even New Years Eve!
But tonight I got a call, regarding a fire in a house. Adrenaline starts pumping, and you drive to the scene, with your colleagues. When we get there, it's easy to see what house it's regarding, there's so much smoke pumping out of the building.
I get chosen to enter the building with a partner, as smoke diver team 1.
We do so, and once inside, I couldn't see anything. And I mean nothing at all. So much smoke. I tried holding my hand in front of my mask, just 2 inches away, and it was impossible to see.
Me and my partner, slowly find our way to the source of the smoke, the fire itself.
We get control of the fire, and make our way upstairs to search for two missing cats, and to make sure there isn't anything ablaze at the attic.
The cats were found, nobody was harmed, the house is uninhabitable now, and I had my first real fire!
I love my job!
