So my mother was using her laptop and thought she needed a bunch of bad anti malware and various recovery software. As you would expect this was a terrible idea and lead to system issues. To fix the computer I attempted to restore it to factory defaults. Little did I know she did not have the power cable plugged in all the way and the process was stopped mid way when the computer powered down. Needless to say this corrupted windows and made it so the computer would not start windows. So now I need to do a fresh install however as is with most pre-made laptops they did not provide a recovery disk. So I contacted them only to find they wanted 40 dollars for an outdate copy of windows on a usb drive. Does anyone know where I can get a .iso for windows vista home premium?


TL;DR: Need a copy of windows home premium so I can burn it to a disc and fix a laptop.
 
Windows Vista has been gone a VERY long time now. I don't think it's really available anywhere outside of purchasing it from Amazon/Ebay, etc. You may want to look into buying a Windows 7 disk instead. I know this may seem unhelpful, but, there are not many good options for this.
 
Yeah I figured as much, guess ill just have to look for my windows 7 install disk for my old college laptop I stopped using a long time ago.
 
T Too_Tall Most laptops have an a partition set aside with windows installation on the hard drive. With my laptop I just hold down 0 when I turn the computer on to go to the option to reset my machine to out of box state. Sometimes this option is called a destructive recovery. This will delete any pictures/songs/documents/etc and restore the machine back to it's out of box state(the state it was in when you first turned it on after buying it.)

You can Google directions on how to do a destructive recovery for your particular brand/model of laptop.
 
OMG that was nitemate i will never touch vista again, too many problems got sick of tired fixing the problem
it vista major problems not the hardware etc
 
Getting a hold of a copy is going to be difficult. I would say maybe look up your machine online and see if someone is selling their old one? If it was a popular machine you might find it. Just be careful buying stuff online.
I was forced to do the same thing but because my laptop was not on warranty, I got the manager to approve me a copy. Maybe talk to them and try to see if they could do that?

Now you could also upgrade. Might be a good time if you are going to spend money. If you are going to upgrade i would recommend you buy it from a trusted site or grab physical card/copy of the software. Walmart might still have them.

If you own a legal key of Windows Vista, you are allowed to download an .iso from the Internet and burn it, for your own personal use.

Microsoft used to have this website where I would input my Windows 7 key, and it would let me download the appropriate Windows 7 .iso from their website.
