I've been playing BC for a loooong time and it was just last year that I found out the "secret" of repairing the HIND in-flight. I was always looking for "the spot" that needed repairing and, since it worked occasionally, I just figured I was missing it. If I'd asked, someone probably could have told me that. lol

If you're the gunner, to change to a seat that allows repairing press F3 or F4. Press F2 to go back to the gunner's seat.

Turns out that the HIND just needs to be in a level flight aspect to allow in-flight repair. You can be moving in any direction as long as the body of the aircraft is level. If the pilot is dodging, save your repair cycles for when he's level in that point between turns...you can get in 20% in a second or so. Keep your eye on the horizon.

If you have a good engineer, and you can manage to keep it level, you can even out-repair the damage from the VADS.

The HIND is virtually useless against tanks from the front. Each volley might do 1% damage, if that, and from the back it's slightly better, but not much. DON'T BOTHER WITH TANKS! You just get their attention. ;)

You can take out a tank with the Hind and the Blackhawk, not hard to do just takes a lot of hits to do so, the Hind is better for it though

Really? Over the last while I've done some half-assed testing of my own by letting the HIND hit me when I'm in a tank with normal armour. It's literally 1% per volley of...what, 5 shots? Unless a tank is butt-forward, or it's being attacked by other units, and lacking other live targets, I think it's firepower is better spent shooting at non-manned targets like the AA mount and its surroundings, or buildings where enemies typically hide, like around the UAV houses.

I've found that the BH will take out a tank a lot faster than the hind, but it still has it's limitations forward-on.

Actually a engineer swapping to fix it its a good idea, specially because Black Hawk and Hind have a good armor.

Against tanks hind arent useless, you will do more damage if you hit the back of tank, in other way a constant damage will make any tank driver try hide or the shots will shake the tank disturbing his aim.

You must remember that heli is a support vehicle and for that he can do a good job with a good team on it.

The Hind and BH can kill a tank but it's a worthless endeavor. When no one is spotting and no infantry or vads to shoot at it's good to distract a tank from a more important task but don't go on and try to kill it.

It's fairly obvious though that the Hinds main job is to deliver one non-spotting sniper from the main to the A treeline, that's the job it excels at.

Thinking here, this heli dont have the 2 MGs at sides like other BF games, and this let it less offensive, specially because players avoid to spawn on it just because the fire doors can be very hard to use when the heli is moving.

The Hind does a great job in the first opening minute of a fight as it brings troops to B. Since it is not very fast, or maneuverable once threats abound it's best used as a mobile but not "attack" spotting and gunning platform. Other than being an engineer joining to help repair it's not going to bring you to the battle. Gotta love a good pilot/gunner combo in one.

You can use it as a battering ram against anything... just point it and let him blow up what he touches... works better if you plant some C4. :P

Ha!! Exactly!! I couldn't have said it better myself. :)

Yes...you can kill a tank, but as Slick said, it's a useless endeavour, and from the front it takes at least a couple of hundred volleys. Good point about getting tankers to hide, though. Mind you, when I'm in a tank and the HIND is shooting at me from afar, it makes it easier for me to sit steady and shoot back accurately along the line of fire.

I've developed some bad flying habits lately (mostly flying too low and fast, swinging turns) but once in a while you'll get a good gunner and a couple of handy engineers and the flight can last most of a round.
