So I haven't been around for a while can't figure out why Donner so dead or just abandon did i miss something did people stop caring about the server or game?

Whenever you guys want to try and fill it shoot me a message or invite. I love playing Donner

I am always down to at least try to attempt to get Donner going. I thought I heard Anni saying something about getting the Ranger group operational again. At least that way Ranger announcements could go out. If not, I have tried to utilize the cross server chat, but the only other server is Ava, so it doesnt really go anywhere.

Like Meg said, lately when we try to get it started, we are the only people there. A random pub or 2 may join but leave shortly after. I think the Ranger announcements are the way to go!

Dpnner was my favorite server and I had to leave for couple months about 6 months ago and it was pretty dead since then, I have been playing Ava majority of the time if I am home hit me up I will jump on Donner anytime.

I think there is still quite a large number of players who still consistently play DOD:S, so I don't think its
a matter of the players drying up. What I have observed, is I think we have a lot of competition from other
servers like 6th RB, 1st Marines, and other servers.

I think the attractiveness of these other servers are for a variety of reasons, and not just any 1 single reason.

First of all... the other servers feature "Friendly Fire" servers... which I personally find to be a huge attraction
for me playing on the others (guilty as charged).

I love avalanche, you often see me there putting in a lot of hours, but I think myself, and quite a few other players
really want to play on other maps... but don't see any numbers in the other servers, so we feel obligated to stick to
where the people are playing...

I think I've played Avalanche so much, that its just not offering me the challenge I am looking for.... granted, my K/D
rate is sub-par, which is usually because I play for the objectives. there are many times though, that I have to switch
back and forth between the teams to even it out, and keep things interesting for everyone. This is fun, but eventually
even I get a little burnt out with old lady ava.

I think though.... we have a lot of options though, that we can take to still try to recover our servers.... but we should
try to act promptly on a course of action, before it continues to deteriorate.

Back to what I was saying about friendly fire.... I think myself, and a lot of other players, love the friendly fire aspect,
I've observed, even in environments that are pretty rowdy, like 6th and 1st can be at times.... the people there, are usually
respectful to one another, and everyone follows a general rule of apologizing to one another if they kill one another...
this keeps everyone in check, and kind of ensures that nobody gets a little too big for their britches.

I had the privilege of serving on the "Right to Rule - 24/7 Avalanche" servers, before their organization dissolved.
They had friendly fire enabled, and a mod that gave you the boot if you killed your own team more than 10 times in a round.
This seemed to work out well.

I've heard in the past, that we don't have the man-power to police such a server... well i think that's kind of an excuse,
and it'd really be no different than our current servers we have now. If we want to continue to stay on top, we have to
adapt to what the people want.

Another aspect I think that keeps people returning to the other servers like 6th and 1st, and others, is that you often
hear quite a lot of people talking and goofing around, an aspect that seems like its kind of missing from our servers.
I think in that respect... many of our players are chatting on Ventrilo or other applications, possibly because they don't
feel they can maintain an "eGO-appropriate" atmosphere... However, the conversations had on vent, are more or less
the same kind of atmospheres that are had in 6th and 1st, and i think our relaxed language rules pretty much covers our
eGO in that respect... so I think its more a change in habit than anything.

However, as truthful as that all is, I find it difficult to ask others to speak more in dods, because I "never" use a mic. lol
hard for me to ask others to do differently, if I have my own issues for using a mic. lol

I think another attractive aspect to the 6th and 1st servers (and others), is that its not just 1 map 24/7, which people then don't
really get good at using their weapons in every situation, as much as they get good at knowing the map better than each other.
plus... strategy becomes quite more obvious on a 24/7 map, and it kind of takes away some of the mystery i think.

I know we have our own 24/7 rotation server, but i think we would have to work on attracting people by addressing some of our
other issues.

I think "Invites" would go a long way, to getting people back on these servers.... I've been playing dods a lot lately, and if i got
an invite to another server, i'd be more than happy to fill it up..... and you know i often play for hours.

Something to consider..... would be to promote some of our eGO members.... if we get them "excited" again, that they are helping
to contribute to our servers, and get our novices to feel like they're engaging, i think it would help boost our numbers.... as they
will play longer.... the longer we get people playing, the more people will come.

Heres another idea to consider.... is that Avalanche fills up fast, and it receives the highest volume of traffic.
So why don't we use that to our advantage, and have our other servers be "Spill-over" servers. So that if Ava is full,
have it automatically join them to Donner... when Donner is full... spill over to Kalt. That makes a lot of sense to me.

I think a friendly fire donner server, would definitely help spice things up for a lot of users.

What if we turned our Donner server, into a rotation server.... but we rotated it between the primary maps.

Donner, Kalt , Anzio , Flash

Then just turned on Friendly Fire.

Another thing.... I saw a forum thread about bringing back the "Music", I think that would
be a great idea.... I know we tried that idea, and we just weren't getting the numbers like
we were expecting.... but I remember a lot of it, was because people just didn't like the
music being played. (no offense to the DJ's). I used to run a radio server with this small
group of people, and our best DJ's easily got about 20-30 people tuning in. Taking requests
was helpful at keeping those numbers high as well. I don't really feel we gave the music
player a decent chance, i think partly due to too high of standards made for the DJ's.

Perhaps we could add something else, to make things interesting.... i mean, a lot of you eGO
are some pretty sharp people, you've played many different eGO maps that have some unique
aspects that make them fun... like the "presents" during Christmas time, adds a kind of different
aspect.... its too bad though, that we couldn't have a script that counted each present like a
reputation point.... then people might actually fight for collecting them. I think its little things
like that we could do to our maps, that might peak our gamers interest, and get them out of the
monotonous rut.

I've done my share of script editing in the past, and surely we have 1 or 2 other eGO who wouldn't
mind tinkering with one of these concepts.

you all know how to have a good time... so I think it should be fairly easy to bring back another server.
We need to remember though, we don't just want to bring back a server "for a little while", to
bring some people in, then have it fizzle out... we want to make changes to keep our numbers up
"permanently".

I really think we need to be pro-active though, and do more than just business as usual kind of motif.

We can make DODS great again! whose with me!
