Had a great squad flying the HIND today. I got in the pilot seat when the tickets were still in the high 400s and we stayed airborne until the enemy was down to 25. Airborne325 was 2nd with no kills/no deaths. lol.
The gunner knew to shoot at tanks only when there weren't any other targets. He shot at the source of ATs. He took my hints if I veered off because of another target or we were being flanked. And you could tell the engi was paying attention. He did a terrific job of repairing when I wasn't dodging or looping.
I love the HIND, especially when you're with a good crew. I don't care if I pilot, gun, or stand by for repair, when it's crewed with people that know what they're doing it's a devastating support weapon - and a hell of a lot of fun!
One of the "little things" I never knew about for years was how to properly repair the HIND in the air. Since it always seemed kind of random when the repair gun worked, I thought you had to find the "spot" where the repair was needed...but it turned out that the helo just has to be in level flight. A lot of guys have a hard time staying still when they're being shot at, it's instinctive to dodge, but if you face the gunfire (the HIND is heavily armoured at the front) a good engi can out-repair even the vads.
Anyway, we worked so well together that I just had to post. Best flight for me in a long time.
