Possible Medigun cheat

I didn't see anything in the rules about discussing potential disruptions to our game, so I assume this post is ok.

I've seen this twice now, and I just want everyone to be aware of it. And report it if you have seen it.

The first time I was playing on Gravelpit as a pyro. We were losing. I had a medic attached to me, and we ubered, rushed in, messed some stuff up, and died. We respawned and ran out of the spawn room. and then... I heard that electro-sound that the medigun makes when you switch to it and an uber is ready.

I just turned around and looked at him, and said over voicecomm: "how did you do that?"

to which he cooly responded "Just keep going."

I posted about it on the steam forums, where a couple of people confirmed that there is indeed a "Medigun speedhack" that will boost your ubercharge to 100%.

I only bring the news here tonight because I believe I have witnessed it again. I'm not going to say any names because I couldn't get a demo, but I KNOW that a medic ran in with a pyro ubered, and I started blasting them with rockets when their uber was almost up. They ran out of sight (into a closed-off area; there were no other medics present), and I hear "I am charged!' and out they run again to kill me..

anyone seen anything similar?

Some people think they are so smart by downloading some script that gives them an advantage over the rest of us, they think is funny and that they are so good, it really makes me mad when I see hackers in game, it's worse when you can't do anything to stop them.

I'll keep my eyes open.

Negative, but there was one time a month ago in which I spec'd someone who I thought was Medigun hacking, because his Ubercharge came much faster than I've ever seen, but he seem to have stopped when I did.

Ok I gotta chime in. I have definitely played a few times recently where the bad guys had 2 or 3 medics but there was an ubers coming constantly, like almost no respite from ubers. I took it in stride because well that's the game, but now that you posted this it's got me thinking. After playing tf2 for ~100 hours and suddenly start seeing this when I never have before...Probably just paranoid.

Hmm never heard of it. thanks for the heads up

off topic: red i love your sig, a lot :D

if it is ideed true, i'll have to get it for my next lan party.
I'll get back to you if I find anything.

Oh noes, this saddens me as I tirelessly try to charge my ubers as fast as possible. But if there's somebody out there who's just cheating their way to ubers it will kill the maddening fun of having good medics around. I'll keep an eye out for it but I know that the medics I usually play with are all members and charge it the way the game has been developed for.

Wow, thanks ƒuse...but remember:

"It costs $400,000 to look at my sig for 12 seconds"

i owe you alot!! of money then :(

Thank you for the thread. All admins should be aware of this. It's going to be hard to catch, but like all hacking, a first person spectator demo should do the trick.

I go on a lot of game hack websites (not to use them, I just go on them randomly lol) and I ahve never seen something like this on there before whether its a speedhack or a exploit :/

It should be easy to catch, just while playing the game, if you pay attention. On average I'd say it takes about 2 minutes to get uber (unless there's some serious damage being dished out), so if there's 2 medics on their team, and they're pumping out ubers every 20 seconds then you got a problem.

The fastest possible uber is like 30 seconds, if the medic's constantly healing someone taking good damage. Any faster and he's not legit. Just keep track of who ubers and when.

Actually it seems its just a undetected speedhack, press a binded key and speedhack is ona nd it takes hardly any time to uber, press the binded key againa nd nobody knows you just used a speedhack

You have an awesome signature.

I've never heard of this hack before, but I'll keep my eyes open now. Thanks for the warning. :)
