Do in-game achievements matter to you?

If you have an idea for a poll, please submit poll suggestions in the "Front Page Poll Questions" thread.

Use to strive for those hard achievements back in the day. But now I just do not pay much attention to them. Kappa

On PC games I seem to never notice them usually. When I used to game a lot on PS3 and had no online, I cared because it added replayability for me.

When I use to play xbox 360 I use to want those achievements and actually go out of my way to achieve them. Now days I don't really care too much, unless I know I'm close to achieving it (i.e. 190/200 USP kills) then I will try to get it.

It really depends on the game. Some I want to complete because I love the game; others I don't really care about.

I love the big emblems and ribbons that pop up when I'm in the middle of a chopper battle... like get out of my face I'm trying to aim here!

Although I play a lot of first person shooters, I'm more of a fan of MMORPG games and hack and slashes and whatnot. I can play games like Neverwinter, Diablo 2, and Silkroad for days. I love in-game economies and leveling up and even after you reach the level cap, there is so much to do, and you can improve forever. I will never play Diablo 3 due to the fact they removed the ability to item trade for PC players, so really, there is no reason for me to play it, when there are games like Path of Exile, Torchlight 2, and Grim Dawn, cheap (or free).

As far as in-game achievements go, for first person shooters and whatnot, I try to get them all, I'll go out of my way to do it, just something to hold my attention otherwise I wouldn't play much and would play something more fun. Although I can play DOD:S for quite awhile, most I can't play long.

If the achievements give something to me in game, then sure I'll pay attention to them (getting all of the achievements in Halo 3 gets you the katana body piece). But other than that, no.

That being said, I am missing two achievements from CoD4 and I've come to accept that I will never 100% the game.

DAMN YOU MILE HIGH CLUB ACHIEVEMENT!!!!!!

lol don't be so hard on yourself, the Mile High club is super hard to get. Unless you a COD GOD.

They don't matter much too much to me. Seen too many friends spend countless hours in first person shooters, World of Warcraft etc trying to get a single achievement that may or may not unlock something. I usually just play and if I get one it's nice, if I don't, no harm.

Yes... somedays I play like Mutley, working to get medals :P

No... somedays I just dont care about nothing and just want to play and do a lot of suicide rushs.

Not really. I guess if you count unlocking weapons and skins in BF4, HL, and 1 then sure.

If achievements actually earned additional items in games, then I would care. For the most part, the only achievements I ever earn are those that come naturally while playing through a game. Achievements alone are not enough of a goal for me to care to reply or continue playing just for the sake of them.

I voted "games have achievements?" as more of a joke. :P I've never focused on the achievements. If I get them, I do. Otherwise, it doesn't matter. Like Bladed, if they offered something productive, maybe I would try to get them.

Though, I do have an OCD issue where if a game only has like 4 achievements, and I get 2 of them, I want to get the other 2 just to get rid of them. >_>
